This is a RARE 70’s VINTAGE Schilke X3LB for BERYLLIUM Bell model Bb Trumpet that is in pretty good shape. I will say 7 out of 10. This horn is special for TWO reasons: First – It is from the early 70’s and has the MATCHING serial number BERYLLIUM bell. Bells from this era are thinner and much more SIZZLE than the new Beryllium bells. Second – It was previously owned by J. Geils of The J. Geils and will pass on ALL the PROVENANCE documents to support his ownership. So, there isn’t another one like this and there never will be! It isn’t MINT, but operates perfectly with by my estimation 100% COMPRESSION. Geils collected trumpets, guitars, and cars, so he must not have played this one much. Has a couple small pings and some scratches that are there, but don’t impact the playability of this baby! Think BILL CHASE with a hair more bore, for more WHALING! This is a lightweight LEAD Commercial trumpet weighing 2lbs 2.3oz. Valves and all slides work as they should. These babies will sell fast, so don’t blink! This one is serial number 4385. THIS IS NOT A NEW TRUMPET, it has had some very slight work done to it over time. The bell bow and the bell have been worked on. I had Brass Alliance do the work for me. David Anderson does amazing work and he really took his time on this baby. I don’t need to sell this classic, so don’t look for too much in discount in the price. This is a TERRIFIC Edwards dual-Thayer valve bass trombone. Edwards has become one of the standards of the trombone world. Their magnificent response and tone quality, as well as the variety of customization options, have won trombone players over everywhere. This one is in excellent condition. It features the 1215CF bell (yellow brass, 22 gauge, tempered) and the standard. 562 slide, two independent Thayers in F and G, and has an additional tuning slide that puts the second valve into standalone D and a pedal Bb in first position with both triggers engaged. Plays great – slide is excellent and the rotors are very good as well. Bell has a couple of very minor dings and scars (see photos) but overall is in excellent condition. For sale are two low serial number New York Bach Model 6 trombones. #821 built around 1937 and #236 built in 1933. #821 was recently in the shop. Much to my surprise they did a great job with the slide! My regular tech is neck-high in tuba customizations at the moment. So this was the first time I got a chance to play #821 with a functionable slide. This horn has a 401 bell and is on the lighter side. It has a fantastic upper register that is effortless with a Bach 11 mouthpiece. Certainly a great horn for playing lead. It does have a nice darker patina, some wear throughout, some on the upper inner slide tube, and notably the bell brace where the thumbplace is. The bottom of the slidecrook is slightly pushed in. Probably the slide was dropped since these early horns did not have slidelocks. #236 needs a slidejob, most likely a new slide crook, and two small smidgen areas of wear on the stockings. The slide is also marked “6T” so it might be a lightweight handslide. This horn has a 415 bell that is heavier than #821 with the 401 bell. The throat appears to be larger and it also has a thicker, heavier french bead to the bell. I tried to capture this in some photos that are in the folder for #236. I played the #236 bell with the regular weight slide from #821 and Bach 11 mouthpiece. In this combination it has a fat sound throughout all registers. It plays darker and has an upper register that doesn’t get strident with loud dynamics. Both horns have nickle silver goosenecks, nickle silver tuning slide tubes and ferrules, and no slidelocks. Combined, these two horns would make a stellar small bore combination package. With the two different weighted bells and handslides this could be a package some players dream of, especially with the low serial numbers and the collectiveability factor. Here’s a listing of Bach trombones registered on the Bach Loyalist website: showing the uniqueness of the low serial numbers. More impressive would be to contact Conn-Selmer and get a copy of the shopcards to see who were the original owners of the trombones. For sale is a Schilke HC1 Handcraft in lacquer and yellow brass. This is Schilke’s take on the venerable large bore Martin Committee. The horn is in almost perfect condition except for some extremely minor lacquer wear between the 1st and 2nd valve under the lead pipe, typically where one places the right hand thumb. It is very minimal and I have attempted to show it in one of the pics. No dents or dings. It is a cosmetically stunning trumpet. Some notable players performing on this instrument are John Daversa (the HC2), and English jazz trumpeter Steve Fishwick. Check both of them out on Youtube. This horn definitely shines as a jazz horn. Includes original Schilke case. This is a King 3B trombone with F attachment. It has been recently serviced and plays well. The slide is pretty smooth, about an 8.5 out of 10 and the rotary valve works fine. There are some dents, dings, finish wear, and solder repairs. It will be a good horn for an advancing student or adult musician without breaking the bank on a new horn. These horns are in mint condition. I initially bought these to complete my DMA, but life got in the way and by the time my wife got her PhD, I had a good job teaching at a University.
