Next generation Yamaha Professional Eric Miyashiro Custom trumpet YTR-8330EM 2nd gen horn. (If you can find one in the USA). I previously owned and played the original 8340EM model exclusively for 9+ years. As a bucket list, I just HAD to try out this newer Gen 2 version. I received, scrutinized, and did a test QC play on this 8330EM… I absolutely love it… But then again I have soooo many pro horns. Someone needs to play this baby rather than just sit in my inventory! It’s for sale! Internationally renowned trumpet artist Eric Miyashiro has directed the development of a new signature “EM” model that upgrades the previous version released 17 years ago. The power and response of the original version is retained while completely revamping the vital valve casing at the instrument’s core. Each and every part has been carefully re-examined and refined as necessary to improve high-register playability and overall control. Eric Miyashiro’s Comments. I worked closely with Yamaha on the development of the YTR-8330EM so that this trumpet will let the musicians connect with their audience with ease. This instrument not only lets me forget about the technicalities of playing, but it also gives me the freedom to concentrate on the music. It is a dream come true trumpet! New design leadpipe and mouthpiece receiver. Thanks to just the right amount of playing resistance, high notes are easier to reach and overall control is notably improved. A step bore (ML) design has been adopted to achieve optimum playability and tonal consistency throughout the instrument’s range. The main tuning slide has an L bore, the valve slides have an ML bore, and the pistons have an M bore. This helps to maintain smooth, consistent playability when all three valves are open or fingered in any combination. Phosphor bronze parts (Bottom caps / 3rd slide stopper). To achieve optimum tone and playability, numerous prototypes were made using different materials of different weights. The result was the adoption of phosphor bronze bottom caps and slide stopper for the first time in the Yamaha trumpet lineup. The new parts contribute to a brilliant high register as well as greater harmonic richness in the middle registers. Main tuning slide brace. A unique tuning slide brace shape that reduces resistance when compared to conventional braces evens out resonance by minimizing variations in playing feel and resistance. The position of the brace has also been revised in the new model, to achieve optimum overall playability. Large one-piece bell (134.4mm, 5-1/4) provides powerful sound and quick response. Unlike traditional methods where a round rim is used in curling, French bead is an extremely advanced technique that matches the curling to the shape of a semi-cylindrical rim and is characterized by improved feedback of sound to the performer. Side seaming is the process of placing the connection point on the lateral valve casing side in contrast to the conventional method of placing the connection point on the lower side of the bell. Side seam trumpets are characterized by a more open vibration. Bell Material – One piece yellow brass. Bell Diameter – 5 1/4. Bore Size – ML Step bore. Weight – Lightweight 2 lbs. Case – Gorgeous Black Generic light use hard case in fabulous condition, with dust flapper and combination locks/instructions. Finger buttons- extra set of finger buttons with concave pearl tips. This trumpet itself is simply amazing. This horn is easy and such a joy to play, fabulous intonation and slots in the high range like there is no tomorrow. It is extremely versatile and can be a lead commercial horn as well as an orchestral horn. Great overtones, never harsh or biting. I have scrutinized this trumpet inside (with a scope) and out.. And it has just one tiny marring imperfection as mentioned (see photo) Except for that it is in essence like NEW!
