Legends Brass CAT MASTER. The Cat Master is based on a scan of a vintage mouthpiece played by the legendary Cat Anderson. The rim and cup are identical to the original, which was created by mouthpiece craftsman Charlie Allen. The inside rim diameter is. 585, with the high point on the inner side and sloping outward. The cup is an extra shallow (similar to Bach F) bowl. The throat is a tight #30 with a sharp shoulder going into the backbore. The backbore is the Legends Manhattan, which is very focused. If you’re looking for that authentic Cat Anderson sound, you’re going to need this mouthpiece! 1.16 (29.34 mm). 0.585 (14.86 mm). Inside Rim Contour: Medium. Cup Depth: Extra Shallow (Similar to Bach F) Bowl. Backbore: Legends Manhattan (very focused sound). This mouthpiece is kept in stock in four blanks: vintage, lightweight, standard weight, and heavyweight. Blank is inspired by classic Jet-Tone mouthpieces played by famous trumpet players of a bygone era. It has a beautiful art deco look. There isn’t a lot of excess mass with this blank, which makes it versatile enough for general playing but with plenty of zing for those solo and lead parts! The lightweight blank adds extra sizzle for more of a lead, or’Las Vegas’ sound. The heavyweight blank is extremely efficient; the added mass creates enriched slotting and core of sound. Legends Brass JT – MF MASTER. This mouthpiece is based on a piece actually played by the legendary Maynard Ferguson. I received the original piece from Alan Wise, who played with Maynard Ferguson for many years (the original is shown in the photos). The rim just gradually melts into the cup, making it incredibly comfortable. The cup is medium shallow (similar to a Bach E/D). It is a convex V shape from rim to throat. The throat is very open (#19). This yields maximum air flow for a nice big sound. The MF Master is. Kept in stock in the Legends JT blank and the Legends Vintage blank. Both blanks have a cool throw-back look combined with just the right amount of mass to enhance sound. Although this mouthpiece design is inspired by a piece played by the legendary Maynard Ferguson. This is not an exact copy. This piece has the enhanced Legends throat cylinder length, and the Legends S backbore. This piece can be used for legit or lead playing. JT MF MASTER Specs. Outside Rim Diameter: 1.060 (26.924 mm). Outside Rim Contour: Round. 590 (14.986 mm). Inside Rim Contour: Round. Comparable to Bach E/D. For a similar mouthpiece with wider inside diameter. This mouthpiece is kept in stock in two blanks: JT and Vintage. The JT blank has a smooth old-school look inspired by classic JT mouthpieces. It’s is a perfect mix of weight: just enough mass to enhance slotting with a big core, but not so much mass that the sound won’t sizzle! The Vintage blank is also inspired by classic JT mouthpieces played by famous trumpet players of a bygone era. It has a beautiful art deco look. This is a professional model tuba in need of some repair. It has some good crunches along the bottom bow and the outside body bow (see pics). The bell has had several patches for repair put in and there are two metal patches on the lead pipe. Even in its non playing needing repair type condition this tuba is still a great tuba! Instrument Condition: The overall physical condition of this used instrument is. Several dents and dings. This instrument is currently in. It has approximately 80-85% of the silver finish. Heavy general wear substantial surface scratches and wear with medium-large dents and dings and/or. One or more of the valves are not functioning properly and some of the tuning slides are stuck. Valve Info: The valve brace needs to be re-soldered on one end (see pics). Lead Pipe Condition: Medium general wear (visible surface scratches and wear and/or small-medium dents and dings) it has two metal patches. There are two metal patches on the lead pipe (see pics). There are several metal patches on the bell (see pics). The rim of the bell has a crack in it (see pics). Outside Body Bow Condition. Has a medium to heavy dent in the outside bow with other dents and dings. No broken metal that we could see(See Pics). Medium dents and dings and medium. Silver and Brass Music Shop is a brick-and-mortar brass instrument restoration and repair shop located in Carson City, NV. Here is a vintage (serial number 196007) York Master “Schmidt” model double french horn. This instrument is in very good condition and plays very well. The valves move very well with very good compression, and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of the instrument, there are a few small dings and pings as well as some isolated areas of very light pitting, etching, and scratching. The bell engraving reads: YORK MASTER/ 196007. All of the minor imperfections are visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn is finished in pure polished brass, and fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This instrument comes with a worn hardshell case and a mouthpiece in good condition. The York Master line was a line of higher-end instruments produced by Bohm Meinl in West Germany as subsidiary of the Carl Fischer company. Carl Fischer outsourced work for their high end brass, and higher quality instruments were produced for Carl Fischer in West Germany by Bohm Meinl. How the horn plays: Full, warm and rich sound with a smooth, buttery tone. Once properly intonated the F and Bb side intonation matches well, and the timbre matches well with the Bb having a tendency to be slightly brighter. All registers speak well and play fluidly. The horn is open and smooth with an excellent sound. Being a Schmidt model, some players will find it to be difficult to use the trigger. It may be necessary to hold the horn more upright and with a different hand position than for other types of double horn. All horns are located at Silver & Brass Music Shop. The round, lyrical sound of this King Master Model reveals its true beauty. The tones are pure and clearfrom a velvet softness to a bell-like brilliance. The traditional cornet lines, with gently sweeping mouthpipe, insure the rich sound. Combine this beauty and tone quality with truly rugged construction, and you have an instrument worthy of the name King. You play relaxed, and know this King Cornet will deliver all that you ask. Solid Sterling Silver Bell responds instantly, gives precise control, projects farther. The sound is richer, slightly darker with more overtones and the tone will not crack-ever! –King White Way Catalog #10, 1938. For sale by The H. White Company LLC, this magnificent Cornet with its solid sterling silver bell is in remarkable shape for its age. This cornet has been restored. The finish is new bake on lacquer which has better durability. The valves perform perfect and are super responsive. All slides are stamped with the appropriately matched serial numbers and fit perfect so there is no loss of air pressure. This cornet has new clear sprayed on lacquer which is rated at 98% perfect. The engraving is perfect. The gold wash is new 99% perfect. There are no large dents. There is one very small ding in the bell flair. There was some pitting on the exterior of the number three valve, see pictures. All slides operate smoothly. The springs are new. All the slides and valves are stamped with the appropriate serial numbers. Comes with original lyre and cleaning rod. The cornet comes in its original Gladstone style case. The HN White made Gladstone case is one of our favorites and this one looks great but has some issues. The handle was replaced. The case straps are intact but very week. Someone pulled of the top and we have glued it back on, see pictures. The interior of the case is in excellent shape but is missing its King name badge. We do not recommend that this case be used with day to day activities. This Cornet sounds great with its mellow full tone that you can only get with a solid sterling silver bell.
