Holton Stratodyne Trumpet 1963 – Extremely Rare – Oversized Case and Holton MP Bore. 456 – Serial# 361 I’ve always been a big fan of vintage Holton pro model horns and love the Model 48’s. This Stratodyne is very unique and my new favorite horn, what a great playing Holton. Compression is very good, 1st slide lever is smooth, 3rd is smooth and is missing the small trim component on the upper slide. Mostly raw brass finish, bell engraving is very cool with the artwork continuing on to the bell rim. Horn has scratches and light pitting throughout, bell flair required dent work and minor dent removal was done throughout. Oversized case is solid with good latches and hinges and horn comes with a vintage Holton mouthpiece. UpYourBrass shop policies are to offer only inspected, repaired, thoroughly cleaned, detailed horns. Horn is dis-assembled and inspected, soaked in an organic de-greasing solution and scrubbed. Body, valves and components are treated in an organic chem clean with Tesch products (Tesch is recommended by NAPBIRT). Hand-lapped valves and chambers (This process can take up to an hour). Complete detail of all components, hot water scrubbed and prepped for assembly. Valves aligned, pads and springs replaced as needed. Play tested and final inspected before listing for sale. Clean your instrument regularly (especially lead-pipe and tuning slide) and have a chem-clean or ultrasonic clean done every two years. Vintage cases are all disinfected, cleaned and sanitized but there may be a residual horn smell in any old case. UpYourBrass Policies (please read).
