Sorry, no overseas sales for this item. Up for sale is a Vintage Pan American Bb/C Trumpet. Used as is condition. Serial #78450 1903 Production. This trumpet was built in Elkhart, IN. This can be played in the Key of Bb or C by removing the main extension slide. Plays great in Bb with the extension and C when removed. The instrument in the Key of C is fair but not as good as the Bb. For the age this is in excellent condition. The satin silver plating shows less than 1% wear. We can’t confirm but with the plating in this condition we believe some shop re-plated this. The inside of bell flare looks like it was gold plated but it has turned cloudy. The valves were nickel plated. They show no wear and have good air compression. Our local University Professor gave it a test ride and his comment was “wow – this plays very good for its age”! Brass construction with satin silver plated body Slides are polished bright silver plated Gold lacquered (cloudy) inside bell flare. 420″ small bore 4.5″ bell diameter Made in Elkhart, IN. This includes a usable SKB case. Two of the bottom feet are pushed in but it’s a solid complete case. This is missing the 3. Slide stop rod rut. All parts look original. Update since being listed We received a message noting our assumption that Conn made this and Pan American distributed this is not correct. This Pan American made model 30B in vintage circa 1929. Pan American had its own serial systems. It is not made by Conn in the way the term implies: Pan American was a relatively independent manufacturing subsidiary of CG Conn Ltd, incorporated in Jul 1919, with its own separate factory opening in Nov 1919. Pan American had its own serial systems, patents, trademarks, brands, models, catalogs, marketing, distribution, etc. Pan American was one of Conn’s. There were others as well. The brass bell-stem gives the sound a traditional tone-color palate, while the phosphor bronze flare sprinkles fairy-dust on everything; enriching the your tone at every volume. The final bell diameter is a bit smaller. (130mm / 5.12). Than its 137mm sibling, allowing for a more directional sound. If you want narrower projection, more like a traditional Lead horn, or you’re concerned about blending in a section with a very conservative idea of what a trumpet “should sound like”, then the 130mm is the safer choice. Leadpipe Receiver: Lightweight, Machined in Bronze. Leadpipe: Lightweight, Machined in Brass, 0.6mm. This leadpipe stabilizes note targets and enriches your sound with a transparency that adds MORE of whatever you give it. The tuning slide material greatly affects the sound and feel of the horn. Elkhart Conn 8D serial # 901414. Detachable flare, unknown ring set, Very large similar to the Paxman large ringset, but I dont have one to check if compatible. It engulfs an Alex ring. Because it sets lower on the bell tail the corpus will not fit in some detach cases, It does fit in an Paxman flat case, but not in a Yamaha flat case. Valve compression, useable but the usual minor leakage encountered in older Conn horns. No skanky notes, good to High C. Bell flare sports a copper Michigan Badge/ patch and the flare has two high temp silver solder pin hole patches, see pics. Nickle hand guard has a small dent. Wire brushed satin finishclean it with a green scrubbie No lacquer with the exception of some inside the bell flare Mechanical linkage on the thumb valve. A good horn for someone who needs a detach bell horn, and you get the Elkhart quality and desirable NiSi.
