Here’s my SBA Selmer Alto which I’ve had for 30 years. I bought it off an old pro Big Band/Jazz player who had it from new. It still has plenty of it’s original lacquer however as with nearly all examples it’s well tarnished but adds to the authenticity of this remarkable instrument. It plays superb and sounds great. It’s down to preference but many people (including me) prefer the sound and feel of the SBA over the mark vi. The action is crisp and quiet. It was called the Super Balanced Action for a reason! It comes with it’s original case. I’ve kept a the modern case as it’s better protected. This is available separately. Also included is 2 Selmer mouth pieces (C and E, they are a bit faded and old but work fine) and pipe cleaner and original cap. The Selmer Super Balanced Action is considered by many to be the design that set the tone for the modern saxophone. One of the later versions of the SBA which stopped being produced in 1954, but if you’re looking at this you probably already know.
