Up for sale is a used Monette MB374 model, developed for Art Farmer. 462 bore and doesnt take as much air as current Monette models do. It has only a few tiny little dings on the third valve slide and bell. The valves are in good shape with incredible compression still and is a one owner horn I played it for only two hours and then had it professionally cleaned for sale. The instrument is a bit heavier than a conventional trumpet. So, this deal comes with two cool Monette mouthpieces: the B6S1/82 P and the B4S S2 P 82. And, many people in NYC will be hearing this horn. I played tonight and people are already asking if you make French Horns and Baritones and Trombones. This trumpet was designed for, and played by Maynard Ferguson , and is an IDEAL instrument for LEAD AND EXTREME UPPER REGISTER playing. With a heavy mouthpiece setup, however, this instrument plays beautifully in a classical or small jazz group setting. I have recorded two studio albums with this very trumpet, and the clarity, the density, and the full body of its sound are second to none! How does it play? It plays amazingly well, in tune in every register, and can light up a room with it’s soaring tone, or play at the softest whisper you can imagine – all with that unmistakable Monette sound. And, it is remarkably easy to play! A very good friend and professional colleague of mine that teaches privately is a symphony player that owns a Bach Stradivarius. But when she teaches, she uses her husband’s Monette trumpet , and I asked her why she would prefer a Monette for teaching. Her answer made a great deal of sense when I look back at my personal experiences playing this trumpet. Here is an absolutely beautiful Flumpet made by Dave Monette. This one was modeled after Art Farmer’s original signature Flumpet that set the standard for these very special instruments. We have NOT heard a Flumpet that sounds this amazing. It literally sounds like butter and the tone is so easy to slot up and down with any amount of attack you desire–the tone doesn’t change unless you want to sustain it harder or softer. One of those “unicorn” horns that you just can’t put down once you start playing it. The Flumpet is near flawless and looks almost brand new. The valve slides and buttons were re-plated recently and the Monette case is also very new. This particular flumpet was designed with Art Farmer’s actual horn specs and the tone is more rich, creamy, warm and thick than the average Flumpet. And this one leaves flugelhorns in the dust because of its ability to attack sharply without the brittle aspects of the flugelhorn or trumpet. Although this is a celebrity pre-owned Flumpet, you wouldn’t know it. The horn is flawless and performs just as if it left the factory today. It was meticulously maintained and is as clean as a new horn. The case is absolutely gorgeous (as many know) and the two 24k gold mouthpieces complement the horn beautifully, as all Prana mouthpieces do. The mouthpiece sizes are STC 3 FL-MFII and STC 3 FL-MFII D. You can order other sizes from Monette directly if you wish, but we think these two mouthpieces are all you’ll need for this particular Flumpet. NOTE that the opal finger buttons (pictured) are an OPTION that can be made separately and matched to the horn. This horn comes with 24k finger buttons from Monette. The last supplemental finger button photo shows rare stones and styles we can custom make. There is way too much to say about this incredible Flumpet. It has amazing power sharp attack and resonance… But can also produce the warmest and most creamy subtle tones for Miles Davis jazz.
