Here is a Getzen Eterna Doc Severinsen model Trumpet, made in the 1968 to 1971-time period, serial number SK11518. This line of Getzen Trumpets is without dispute one of the finest lines of Trumpets ever created, bar none. The Eterna model itself came into being in the early 1960s as a hybrid of several of their other professional trumpets. It was in, I believe, 1964 that Doc joined the company as an endorsee, and advisor to the specific manufacturing of this one- off Eterna line. Doc made lots of tweaks and suggestions that were crucial to establishing the immediate success of this professional mode! In 1970 Ray Amado, who at that time was partnered up with Bill Ratzenberger making the legendary JETTONE mouthpiece lines, decided to also join forces with Getzen. Ray brought his patented Amado water keys to the Severinsen model thus eliminating the standard lever type spit valves. Ray also consulted on other production aspects, including the lead pipe, bore and bracing structure. When all of this was mixed into the ongoing processthis horn became the best ever produced! As you can plainly see, this Doc Trumpet has been reconditioned from front to back. It was re-done in the following manner. We thoroughly inspected this horn and remediated any d. Ent issues, damaged parts that need repairing or replacement. It was put through its first of three (3) Sonic cleaning baths. This is a process of intense cleaning, sanitizing, freeing stuck slides etc. Addressing literally every part of the interior of the instrument that normal cleaning cannot reach! Following these repairs, the horn was lightly buffed making the surface acceptance of its new finish, a given. Then it was put through its second Sonic cleaning bath. Then apply a light cooper plating, followed by a completely new Silver plating. SoThis trumpet is as good as new including a first valve trigger, a gold wash finish to the inner bell, new felts etc. Also of great importance is the fact that the valves on this Trumpet are like every other Getzen madesimply the bestfast, tight and absolutely responsive in every range.
