> What do the trumpets look like. Not the most imaginative name. It really is called the “Sixty-One B”. In 1967 Conn started to produce the 60B, and it lasted at least through 1972. The Conn 61B is essentially that same horn. It had a #1½ bore (0.458) and top spring valves. It was available in standard brass and with a “bright silver finish”. I have been contacted by a gentleman by the name of Bill Bracker who was an Inspection Supervisor for Conn at the time. He tells me the official name for the 60B was “Super Connstellation”. One of Conn’s clinicians at the time, the trumpet player Jerry Franks, was responsible for the design of the 60B and had the very first 60B prototype. The problem in production was easily fixed for the second production run. What Conn said in 1966: The most versatile, the finest trumpet ever created by Conn. Designed for the professional. Includes three sets of interchangeable finger tips. Completely new acoustical and mechanical design throughout. Ideal for studio, recording, solo or band work. The above was taken from the internet on a Conn 60B. THIS IS A CONN 61B. This Conn 61B trumpet is a rare find for any professional musician. With a bore size of. 458 and a brass body material, this instrument is perfect for those with expert experience levels. The valve type is a piston with 3 valves, and the finish material is nickel. The trumpet features a water key and finger hook, making it easy to play for extended periods without any discomfort. The leadpipe material is brass with a nickel plated valve material, and the bell material is also brass. This instrument is a standard type with a Bb key, and it was manufactured in the United States. It’s perfect for any trumpet player who wants to take their skills to the next level. I’m a working musician in Chicago/NWI and this is my personal horn. Serial number 173186 makes it built in 1949-50. I just don’t use and it sits in the case and needs played. It has been totally refurbished and the valve refitted by a renowned trumpet shop. The valves have great compression and aligned. It is all original and no red rot in the lead pipe. IT was relacquered in the past and we chose not to strip and rebuff to keep the thickness and integrity of the horn intact. I have the original Martin hardshell case, but it is rough shape. I have a lot invested in this horn, so I will not sell it for less than what’s in it.
The Martin Magna was based on the larger bore Martin Committee, this one from about 1965. It is similar to the Committee model, but with a rose brass bell. 460 bore, and standard water keys. The valves and compression are great, and very clean in and out.
Welcome to Ashantee Music! Matching Exceptional Students With Quality Instruments. One of several professional trumpets we are offering for sale. This is a hard-to-find Yamaha Xeno YTR-8345RSII silver Bb trumpet. It is the large-bore version of the more common 8335 Xeno–giving you a more open feel and a bigger sound if you have the breath control to match it-and it is the Gen 2 version with improved slotting, resistance, and projection. For that matter, it also has a reversed leadpipe, making it even more freeblowing and responsive. It is in excellent condition: very small dings and scratches mostly along the bell bow where it looks like some small dents were removed, but no significant dents or dings. Silver plating about 99.9% with little if any wear at all; a small ding in the end of the second valve slide, which is also missing the little pull knob. All tuning slides are free, valves are fast and smooth and quiet with excellent compression. Just through the shop where it was chem cleaned, polished, lubed, and had new water key corks and tuning slide O-rings installed. Note that this horn is oiled with SYNTHETIC valve oil (specifically, Hetman #2,) and that you must use a similar synthetic oil or thoroughly clean the pistons and casings prior to switching to a petroleum-based product. Comes in the 2nd generation Custom double case which has some cosmetic wear but is otherwise in excellent condition with integrated backpack straps, and lots of room for your C-trumpet, practice horn, or lots of mutes and accessories. Includes Bach 7C and Bach 5C mouthpieces. Very nice slotting on this horn, and probably the most accessible upper register of all the Xenos. An excellent trumpet for an advanced player wanting something a little bigger sounding than a 37 Strad or a standard Xeno, almost impossible to find on the used market, and just in time for the new school year!
