Vintage King 3B Concert Silver Sonic trombone with gold plated bell. This was a find at a local shop, so I do not know the individual history of this horn. Although Im a musician, Im not a brass expert and my knowledge of vintage jazz trombones is pretty limited beyond knowing that this is a desirable horn that really needed a better home. The horn seems to be in very good condition with light use, despite its age. There are a few sins and scratches, but nothing major – the largest (by far) is about the size of a pea, and is pictured in detail. I wiped it down a bit and greased the slide, but otherwise it is as-found. The silver, brass, and gold bell all look great. I would say finish/cosmetics are about a 9/10. Some signs of normal/light wear in the usual spots. The slide is nice and smooth. Seems perfect from my woodwind perspective – no bumps or issues. The tuning slide is also in good shape with no issues. The weighted King emblem can be easily disassembled, smoothly, with no problems. The lock is in excellent condition. The water key is also in excellent condition. The gold plated bell plated on top of the silver? A couple light scratches from a stand or mute, but thats it. It comes in what I presume to be the original king case, which is in excellent condition. Green velvet interior (8/10) and brown leather exterior (8/10). There is no mouthpiece included. Overall I would describe the instrument as pristine and extremely clean for its age. It looks like it was well cared for and sat mostly unplayed for many years. Again, Im a musician (hs/college band director) but not a brass expert. The pictures are part of the description. This instrument is as-is, as-found, and the sale will be final.
