At one point in history, the United States was producing some of the finest saxophones in the world. These instruments provided a unique, and craved sound by top Jazz and Big Band men around the world. Many professional musicians today lust after the opportunity to get an amazing Vintage American Classic such as the Buescher Top Hat and Cane Super 400, a Martin Committee or Magan Model, a King Super 20, or this, a Conn 10M. The 10M was first introduced in 1917 as the New Wonder Saxophone. The instrument evolved into some much improved and refined in 1934. While realizing tremendous approval in the beginning, the 10M saw some enhancements and variations, unfortunately concluding with a lackluster variation made in Nogales, Mexico in 1969 before complete discontinuation in 1971. The instrument you are looking at here is among the most desirable of all! Sporting rolled tone holes, and improved ergonomic approach over earlier variations, and a refined neck, body taper and bell. The construction of these horns is absolutely incredible. As you will see in the photos this instrument is in incredible condition! It is all original, and shows no signed of ever being damaged or repaired. Its absolutely incredible to discover an instrument like this today, in such fine condition! Mechanically the instrument is also superb! It has received a full mechanical overhaul and wears a set of new leather pads with domed plastic resonators. The keys are tight and the horn is well adjusted. The sound of this instrument is absolutely remarkable!! It has a huge fat sound, with an incredible rich dark core. This instrument lives up to the reputation of the finest playing 10M Tenor Saxophones! This comes with a like new deluxe after market black hard case with latches and combination lock.
