Legends Brass JT – MF MASTER. This mouthpiece is based on a piece actually played by the legendary Maynard Ferguson. I received the original piece from Alan Wise, who played with Maynard Ferguson for many years (the original is shown in the photos). The rim just gradually melts into the cup, making it incredibly comfortable. The cup is medium shallow (similar to a Bach E/D). It is a convex V shape from rim to throat. The throat is very open (#19). This yields maximum air flow for a nice big sound. The MF Master is. Kept in stock in the Legends JT blank and the Legends Vintage blank. Both blanks have a cool throw-back look combined with just the right amount of mass to enhance sound. Although this mouthpiece design is inspired by a piece played by the legendary Maynard Ferguson. This is not an exact copy. This piece has the enhanced Legends throat cylinder length, and the Legends S backbore. This piece can be used for legit or lead playing. JT MF MASTER Specs. Outside Rim Diameter: 1.060 (26.924 mm). Outside Rim Contour: Round. 590 (14.986 mm). Inside Rim Contour: Round. Comparable to Bach E/D. For a similar mouthpiece with wider inside diameter. This mouthpiece is kept in stock in two blanks: JT and Vintage. The JT blank has a smooth old-school look inspired by classic JT mouthpieces. It’s is a perfect mix of weight: just enough mass to enhance slotting with a big core, but not so much mass that the sound won’t sizzle! The Vintage blank is also inspired by classic JT mouthpieces played by famous trumpet players of a bygone era. It has a beautiful art deco look. There isn’t a lot of excess mass with this blank, which makes it versatile enough for general playing but with plenty of zing for those solo and lead parts!
