1951 Buescher 400 Top Hat & Cane Professional Tenor Saxophone Snap In Pads Rare

This tenor sax has the potential to be a hidden gem with some TLC. Most of the keys move freely and the snap in pads are in poor to fair condition(should be professionally cleaned, new pads/corks installed to be playable and adjusted for optimal performance). This tenor saxophone has the raised Buescher 400 logo, elaborate Top Hat and Cane bell engraving, a bell tone ring and an under-slung octave key on the neck. There are no major dents present and the minor body/neck dents pictured can be removed during the pro repad/overhaul. This tenor saxophone has scratches throughout and minor lacquer wear from normal use, with approximately 90% of lacquer intact(may not be not original). Included is a somewhat used, worn and musty smelling Buescher wood shell tenor saxophone case(all latches function as intended, case interior is intact, exterior has scuffs and wear, both handles are usable). Buescher Top Hat and Cane relacquered tenor saxophone (recently overhauled). I literally bought this horn 2 years ago for more than 2x as much than it’s listed for. I played the horn on this track. FYI, since the 2 years I have had this horn… I have only played it out less than a half a dozen times. I used it to as a backup to my King. The Buescher is a bit brighter than my king. 1950 Buescher 400 Top Hat & Cane Professional Tenor Saxophone Snap In Pads Rare

All keys move freely and the snap in pads are in fair to good condition. This tenor saxophone has the raised Buescher 400 logo, elaborate Top Hat and Cane bell engraving, a bell tone ring and an under-slung octave key on the neck. The neck doesn’t show signs of pull down, but the neck brace appears to have been re-soldered at some point in time. There are no major dents present and the minor dents don’t affect play-ability. This tenor saxophone has scratches throughout and minor lacquer wear, with approximately 95% of lacquer intact(probably not original). The serial number is in the lower 321,4xx range, which dates manufacture to approximately 1950. Included is a somewhat used and worn Buescher wood shell tenor saxophone case, with one working case latch and one needs a new spring(both latches catch). Very nice, huge playing, original lacquer Buescher 400 “Top Hat & Cane” Alto Saxophone with nice, sharp engraving on offer. Please note the “obscured” number (SN:333885-probably). The engraving, raised “Buescher” logo and silver tone ring are all in excellent condition. I do not see any obvious evidence of re-soldered post/keywork or toneholes. There are no major dings or dents to speak of on the neck or body of the saxophone. The original lacquer is in ok condition with about 65% overall remaining coverage on the body and maybe 30% on the neck. The horn plays from top to bottom with good action on older pads but could use an adjustment and cleaning. Please budget for tuning to individual taste. This is a great-playing example of a top vintage Buescher 400 tenor saxophone, #333XXX, made in 1949 at Elkhart Indiana USA at the peak of American saxophone manufacturing excellence. His sax has normal wear and scratching on it’s vintage laquer finish, signs of a few repaired dents, 3 or 4 post resolders and everything works great. It is set up to good playing adjustment on correct Buescher Snap-In pads that are around midlife. This sax blows very easily with a full, warm sound and it can get lots of edge. Yes its the Real Deal 1948 Buescher Top Hat and Cane B11 model Tenor saxophone. The best american made beast of a horn. Needing a full repad and some work but a the right price. The Lacquer is Dark Worn but Original. The engraving is sharp and crisp. The “Buescher 400″ script on the bell is perfect. All the keys and rods and screws are free and moving. This horn will need a full and pad job overhaul but it. Is a very worthwhile candidate. All original pads(side D has a new pad) with there original snap-on pad retaining buttons. All the original gold plated norton springs. All the original Amber rollers. Its all here, it just needs Lovin’, A lot of lovin’. Its got dents here and there. The worst on the bottom bow has been removed. The neck is firm in the socket with no wobble. It has its share of dings but is all there. I bought this years ago with the intent of getting it playing but soon after purchasing i fell into an Aristocrat and this just sat in storage. Take a look at the pictures and ask any questions. 1951 Buescher 400 Top Hat and Cane Tenor Saxophone w/ Original Case. This tenor saxophone has a raised Buescher 400 logo, elaborate Top Hat and Cane engraving. The six digits serial number is 333XXX and it has the B11 right under it. Original lacquer on the saxophone, there are no major dents, some scratches, all keys and pads are still good. The saxophone is playable and all the keys are good. Please check the pictures for more detail. The case is a little torn and little wearing on the onside; the handle on the top of the case doesnt have the leather anymore. Comes with original case.
