Very Beautiful and Rare Vintage Maurice Boiste Tenor Saxophone, Superb Condition
This is a gorgeous example of an extremely rare instrument by Boiste, made, I estimate, around the 1940’s or’50’s. It comes in what I assume is its original hard case, which is in decent condition. The sax has just been professionally overhauled and repadded by Cumbrian wizard sax-tech Steve Marshall of Marshall-Mcgurk in Maryport, who has done all of my work for the past 25 years! This is the largest-bore tenor saxophone I have ever seen or played – it makes my Conns look like pea-shooters – and plays with a huge, robust, dark tone that is great for Jazz, but would also be a killer horn for Rock. As you will see from the pictures, there is no damage or messy repairs and the silver-plate is 99% perfect. It’s beautifully engraved, too, and features a very splendid (removable) guard for the bell keys. Note: Boiste also produced “stencil” saxes for other sellers, and I also have a “Paul Beuscher” alto which is more or less identical to this tenor apart from the different engraving. This is a super horn to play, but also eminently collectable – you could search for a long time to find another, and I’m sure you couldn’t find another one as good as this. And I don’t need seven tenors! I will be listing several more of my alto’s and tenors and clarinets (and maybe even a C-melody) over the next few weeks and months from my collection built up over decades. Thank you for reading my listing and Good Luck! I can’t figure out how to get my listing to show that, but please message me if you are interested!
