You are looking at a real old vintage LUDWIG DRUMS snare drum. Color is white marine pearl over a chrome over brass shell. The size is 4×14. The drum has eight tube lugs. The shell is brass which most likely is chrome under the white marine pearl wrap. There is no badge. I believe the name Ludwig was factory inscribed in the metal shell. And is now covered in WMP wrap. Year is from the late 1920s or maybe the early 1930s, I believe. My guess is 1927. The rims are single flange chrome over brass rims. The magnet does not stick to them. The clips to hold the rim down also do not stick to the magnet, and are brass. Also do not stick to the magnet, and are brass. The tension rods, throw off, and butt do stick to the magnet and are steel parts. The chrome plate is clean, we left any further cleaning to you, or enjoy as is. Two point beer tap strainer works. Original butt with original rust still on it. Original tension rods and washers. This drum has an olde set of snare wires, too, I don’t know if they are original to the drum. All twelve snare wires are present, and. They are not too bent or stretched out. The issue with this drum is that under the WMP plastic wrap. Why, I have no idea. I’ve owned this drum many years, I never used it or took it apart. I only just discovered the problem with the shell. When I got it out of storage the calf head was broken, and I found the shell issue. I don’t think that it will affect the playability, but it is there. I think the parts alone may still be worth some of the price of the drum, they are all here and working. Due to the shell problem, I will call this drum a player, or a project, or for parts, and not for the fussy collector. It does have a real old Remo Ambassador brush head on top, with a lot of brush use showing. The bottom calf head is torn, and of little use, but I left it on as part of the drum’s history. Also I left it on because it was on real tight. I did not want to take it off and further damage it. The calf head is tucked on it’s original flesh hoop, which you will need to tuck new calf, if you choose. Or, you can set it up with what you want. Like most used drums, t here are nicks, chips and scuffs, and issues from a long life. The chrome is clean, but you can further detail it yourself. We never recommend steel wool, and we never use it. I don’t think this drum has ever seen steel wool. The parts don’t have those hazy blue-grey scratch lines. At least you should not use steel wool on nice drums either, like this one. We left any further cleaning to you. I got this drum pretty much as you see it in the photos. That was many years ago. Maybe you can use it? If you have any more helpful information, Id be happy to post it. Please ask about condition….. These charges are the buyers responsibility.
