Up for sale is a Beautiful The Martin Committee III Alto Saxophone serial #206435 , this places the build year around 1959. This professional saxophone has a beautiful lush Martin tone – with a sharper edge to it than the earlier Committee`s. I have used it personally for a live gig recently in combination w a metal Berg L MP and it handled smooth. I usually play a Selmer Super Action II and this Martin horn is of the same pro level in my opinion. Sax looks clean and pads look like theyve recently been re-padded. Serial on the neck matches the serial of the body. Original lacquer looks like its 80-85 % intact(see pics)mostly because of tarnish on the bell. The engraving is still very visible, but the engraving part on the bell is also the place where lacquer has faded (see pic). There is a small but visible dent where the serial # is located (see pics). The instrument shows some signs of wear due to age(rust and tarnish) (see pics). I noticed that low B and Bb are tough to play I have to press the Spatula/left pinky keys with more force than should be necessary to close the low B & Bb tone holes, so the key mechanism will need adjusting of some sort. I advice to ask me more about this if you need more specifics. G# spring was replaced but I think it could still operate smoother than it currently does. It sounds lush but I have to work a little harder on the low E, D, so it might indicate the pads need to be overlooked to make sure there are no leaks. This sax is worth much more than the asking price, The low price is based on the flaws that are mentioned above. The instrument is Vintage, not New, so please see pictures for condition of instrument (dont hesitate to ask for more pics). If you have any questions about this instrument please message me.
