King Trumpet Cleaning Guide. For your consideration is a Benge 90B Silver Plated trumpet with hard case included. This horn is believed to be part of the U. I (United Musical Instruments) era of Benge which began in 1985 when CG Conn and King were absorbed by a Swedish conglomerate and resulted in UMI’s formation with these brands. The serial number system used by King was still applicable early on for the UMI trumpets and therefore with the prefix of “5”, this would make the horn’s production year 2005 (Serial #: 5 619397). The 90B was a hand crafted, hand fitted, and hand adjusted horn from mouthpiece to bell and was skillfully crafted to ensure accuracy throughout the instrument. In forums, it’s often referred to as a “Bach Strad Clone” and is classified as a darker and heavier sounding horn than others. Beautiful bell engraving shows a nice logo front as well as internal diamond pattern designs as well. Paired with a comfortable feel and great sound, this would make a great upgrade from a student line instrument! This horn was found in very good condition with only a little bit of clean up/silver polish required and a few small instances of dings in the bell section. Our pictures may not reflect this as the dings were quite difficult to capture in photo due to their location. The horn has been cleaned and is in working condition. I do not play personally so I can not say to what extent the performance is, but I can get it to make trumpet sounds. Thanks for your consideration!
