Andalusia Musical Instruments is a company based in Huntington Beach, California, specializing in crafting unique musical instruments with an emphasis on innovative design and traditional assembly methods. Over the years the Andalusia have been manufactured using quality components sourced from at least three continents. Founder and designer Vance Hu originally sought to improve upon the large bore model trumpets that have been popular for decades, and perhaps to offer his own take on the large bore. Here is the AdVance Phase II Lead Model. 0.469 / 11.9mm Large bore. One piece gold brass 37 style bell. Reverse leadpipe and dual radius tuning slide. Mobile 1st & 3rd tuning. Bright silver plate with gold plated trim. That large, open bore is ideal for outside and outdoor playing: big bands or brass bands, athletic bands and more. It has a rich tone, and projects well. Silver plate is 96% intact, some wear at the usual points. Gold plate looks bright and clean, pistons are clean and quick. There is evidence of light red rot in the mouthpipe. Pistons and slides all move quickly and appropriately. According to Vance, this trumpet is a first-gen Phase II Lead. Vance isn’t just a brass enthusiast, he is into fast cars and cigars. His car collection includes several models he has occasionally loaned to big budget productions like the Fast & Furious franchise; and he is also a knowledgeable importer of fine cigars. You know else who likes cigars? He and Vance are cigar pals, and Arturo is a fan of the Andalusia trumpets. It’s no secret that he performs with them consistently. Arturo play tests many of Vance’s prototypes, and has offered valuable occasional creative input into their designs.
