Made in Los Angeles (LA), California. Serial #5, xxx; 1s Bell; 7 leadpipe. This horn can SIZZLE. It is VERY responsive, and the color leans brilliant. COSMETICS : Pretty good overall with minor flaws listed below: – Signs of a bell dent removed from the flare. There are faint shadows/lines near the bell rim. A few tiny dings, and a minor dent next to the near Z brace on the bell taper. Plating has some minor pitting in and wear in isolated spots. I’d rate it as 90%+, or better overall. I had a small repair done to an inside port of the first valve. Short story: When I bought it, I had discovered a very small pinhole inside a port; must’ve been poked through w/a brush when cleaning. I had it plugged with solder, and smoothed to perfectly match contour of the port. It’s was expertly done, by a very well regarded shop/tech. If I didn’t mention it, I doubt it would even be discovered. I have pics of the tiny pinhole before the repair, if interested. It is a “nothing-burger” but it is worthy of mention in the interest of honesty. I have used the horn extensively since this repair. It has worked perfectly. (Please see all pics, as I did my best to include close-ups of the areas of flaws). MECHANICS : Very nice overall: – Smooth valves with good compression. All slides move smoothly as well. The horn has been used daily, and is fully gig-ready. It really is an outstanding player. The horn is for sale locally as well, so feel free to contact me in regards.
