1943 Olds Super Silver Trumpet. This horn came from Landress Brass in NYC. It has a full going over from Josh about 3 years ago. I went there with a good friend of mine (who has soloed with the New York Philharmonic). Hes a symphonic player and was looking for a jazz horn. I listened to him play nearly every horn in the shop (so it seems). To me this was the one he sounded best on. Everything works all the valves, caps and slides. Its one of the frosted silver ones from what you can see in the photos. The horn sells as photographed and I guess you could call it an artist select horn. I think if youre looking for one horn to do it all, the Supers are a great choice. Ive got different horns that I use for different situations but if I was going to go to a one horn situation, Id keep this instrument. It plays in tune with a nice sound and a quick response. Its got some plate loss and repairs (all done by Josh Landress). You wont see many of these frosted finish ones. This is the only one Ive ever seen except for a picture of Billy May playing one.
