For sale is a rare estate find, Antique 1923 Frank Holton-Clarke (H-C Model) Bb Silver Plated Cornet with it’s original case, Frank Simon “V” Cup Mouthpiece and Original Marching Lyre. Made in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, with serial number 60986 confirming this instrument was manufactured in 1923. This model was famously designed in collaboration with the legendary cornet virtuoso Herbert L. Clarke and features stunning intricate floral engravings on the bell. Valves : All three piston valves move freely, smoothly, and snap back up. Finish : Original silver plating is intact with a natural vintage patina/tarnish. It will polish up beautifully if the new owner desires. Slides : Three of the tuning slides move but I could not move the others. All could use lubrication. Case : Includes the original 1920s Frank Holton hard shell case with its iconic vibrant green velvet plush interior. The case lining is in very good condition for its age. Mouthpiece : Original “Frank Holton & Co” “Simon” Model – Highly collectible deep “V” cup signature mouthpiece designed for the famous Sousa Band solo cornetist. The mouthpiece is currently stuck and I could not remove it from the horn. Again, some lubrication would help. Marching Lyre: Comes with the original Frank Holton Marching Lyre. Spring loaded sheet music holder that slots directly onto the horn. There is a screw missing to the Lyre holding bracket. Please look closely at all photos for cosmetics.
