1950’s #53xxx SELMER SUPER BALANCED ACTION TENOR saxophone – factory relacquered which has NOT in ANY way, affected the sound quality — or — integrity of this horn, perhaps there is a misconception about that. I have shown pictures on the tarnish lacquer, but you really have to look for it. I have tried to picture the areas that show any wear. Please come over to play this gorgeous Selmer SBA early 1950’s tenor saxophone — in person and play it because It sounds unbelievable and you want to ensure this horn is for you you need to feel assured it is the right one for your style. I have heard many different styles of jazz played on this horn, so whatever is your thing- try it out! When I was at Berklee in the 1980’s everyone was imitating John Coltrane, so if that’s your thing – do it! It has a big sound which is great for any kind of gig or show. It was played in swing era, jazz big band, small ensemble jazz groups music venues. It has been overhauled and always maintained by a top level repair professional that we used for years on many of our 100 antique and vintage horns in our collection. My late husband, a well known professional, jazz musician who performed primarily in NEW ENGLAND and earlier in his career, NEW YORK was a renowned appraiser and collector as well as performer.
