1964 Olds Recording Trumpet with Original Case. Here’s your chance to own what some say is the best playing trumpet ever built. This is a Fullerton built Olds, which means it has the upgraded valve guide setup. There is also a flat area in the main tuning slide inner radius where apparently someone tried too hard to pull a stuck slide. Other than that, this trumpet is very straight. The bell flair isn’t factory straight, but it’s so close that careful inspection is needed to see any imperfections. There is a small amount of pitting here and there. The valves don’t look so good due to pitting, but the actual valve wear is very low. The measured valve leakage (see pictures) is lower than most horns of this vintage. No play in the valve stems. Big’pop’ when pulling slides. There are no tubing, solder, or water key leaks. All 4 tuning slides are in great condition. The horn plays great and has a unique sound. This instrument has been thoroughly snaked several times. It’s clean and corrosion-free inside, including the leadpipe. Case and trumpet only. The two case latches do not spring open like they should. They still latch properly. The item “1964 Olds Recording Trumpet with original case” is in sale since Wednesday, July 29, 2020.
