Made in mid 2017, this is one of, if not the newest used Monette horn one might come across. As you can see in the photos, the horn is absolutely flawless. The valves have been oiled before and after playing anytime Ive used it with oil the shop recommends. The tuning slide, first, second and third valve slide have been greased twice a week for the life of the horn so far, again with only the grease the shop recommended, and the horn has also been given a thorough cleaning every month. Those of you familiar with new Monette trumpets, they are not to be put on trumpet stands and only should be put in the custom made leather case, this horn has been very well taken care of and is in perfect condition. The horn was at the Monette shop less than 2 months ago to get a brand new B4S3 Raja mouthpiece, and was played and adjusted by Dave Monette. The difference between the normal horns and the ones with the Raja integral threaded mouthpiece is hard to describe without playing it yourself. But if you could imagine the most instant and effortless changing of notes, with increased response and cleaner attacks, that would be the best way to describe it. It just makes it easier to make music without having to worry about other things. Keep in mind this mouthpiece is threaded and can be changed! It is NOT built permanently into the horn! The XLT+ models are a brand new state of the art design from Dave Monette, lighter than the LT horns, the same weight as the original XLT horns, but with newly designed parts to give it a thicker and more broad sound. And can be extremely Smokey for small group jazz. Dont be mistaken, there are recordings of some of the new XLT+ horns on the Monette Facebook page, and when these horns are played in the upper register and pushed, the sound can lead any big band with ease! I will also include a video of THIS EXACT HORN being played at the shop at the bottom of this description! Principal Trumpet of the MN Orchestra, Manny Laureano, received a horn almost identical to this one only weeks before this was completed. This is serial number #2712, making it one of the newest Monette horns out there. Included will be the Monette Raja XLT+ Trumpet along with the threaded B4S3 Mouthpiece specifically adjusted for this horn. Also, a matching regular trumpet shank, Prana B4S3 STC1 mouthpiece will be included to use on any non monette trumpet. Along with a Monette double mouthpiece case to store them both. A custom made Monette leather case for this horn will also be included to keep the horn properly protected. ORIGINAL documents on how to maintain, care for, and body use tips will also be included in the care kit with all the cleaning supplies sent with the horn. The horn has only had Hetman brand lubricants used on it and the correct ones will be supplied as well. Please note this Trumpet is not gold plated and does not have finger button inlays. Meaning what youre paying for is strictly the performance of a great playing horn. Although this horn is beautiful already, adding those things dont affect the playing characteristics of the horn. Meaning gold plating and finger button inlays, while still very cool, do not add any musical advantage. Very rarely will you find a used Monette that is a Raja. (threaded integral mouthpiece) its desirable because it actually does improve playing characteristics, and is not simply aesthetic. The price will be fair, but will reflect how new the horn is and how special this particular model is. As you can see in one of the pictures I even kept a little lock on the zippers of the case to keep unwanted guests out! Because trust me, any gig you go to, any trumpet player will want to take a look. This just goes to show that it was well loved and treated with great care.
