Check out my other items. Be sure to add me to your favorites list. This listing is for a vintage King Zephyr baritone saxophone. It is a series III Zephyr, made in Cleveland, OH in c. The serial number is 359, xxx (matching numbers on both body and neck). I was able to play it down to low Bb with difficulty, but it definitely isn’t in proper playing condition. I think at this point it would require a full overhaul to be made back into a real player. This horn is in pretty typical’old bari’ condition, which is to say that it has lots of dents and dings. They are too numerous to list, let alone picture, every little ping. On the plus side, it doesn’t have any really major dents. The bow is not completely caved in, as most are. It is slightly flat on the very bottom, and there are small dents on the side and front (of the bow) though. There are small dings on the body tube, and a couple dents on the upper crook for the life of me I have never understood how a bari can get a dent on the very top of the crook! Probably the biggest issues are that the braces for both the bell/body and crook/body are pushed into the body. I’ve tried to show this as good as I can in the pics. This will probably require removing the bow to properly access these areas for dent repair. Since the crook is pushed in, it is also bent a bit, with some resulting bowing (like neck’pull down’ but in the opposite direction). The neck has some minor pull down, and small dings. Further, it is bent, purposely so I believe, to compensate for the crook being bent a bit, as previously mentioned. That should all be re-done. This horn does have the double socket neck, and both inner and outer tenon appear perfectly round. All of the key-work is present and moving freely, as are the rollers (turning freely). The pads are old, worn, and in need of replacement. The lacquer is about 80% intact with normal wear, scratching, and scuffs throughout. I believe it is original lacquer. Bottom line, this horn is going to need a lot of work, but not any more (possibly less in fact) than the typical old bari. It should be a nice one when done though. These old Kings are war horses, and this one has plenty of music in it yet to be made! This horn does come in its original case. Once the horn is restored you’ll surely want a better case for day to day use. Basically, it is very worn all around (both inside and out), and the plywood shell is separating (the sides from the bottom), although that could probably be glued/tacked back together if you wished. There is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories included with this horn. Please feel free to message me with any questions! Thanks again for looking!
