Taylor Chicago Standard Trumpet. The “ultimate” jazz and ballad horn. Raw brass finish with amazing patina. Large bore, free blowing. Bauerfeind valves – the best in the world. I don’t know where to start. I REALLY don’t want to sell this horn even though I don’t play anymore. It’s that special. I listed this a few weeks ago and took it back down the next day. And they are worth every penny. It’s a heavy horn, but nowhere near as heavy as the Chicago Custom with all the sheet bracing. The sound – heavenly. If you have been searching for that perfect dark, rich, smoky jazz sound, this horn has it in spades. But this Taylor is the one I chose over that one to be my primary gig horn. I love this horn. Play it for 5 minutes and you will understand. It has an amazing rich sound and plays so easily. It brightens up when you push it, and whispers when you speak softly through it. Lean on it and you can blow the back wall off. But put a shallow lead mouthpiece in it and it makes a great, powerful lead horn. This is truly a world class instrument. I spent years looking for that rich “Chris Botti on his dark days” sound and I found it in this horn. There are 2 small dings. The raw brass surface has developed a beautiful patina over the years. I fell in love with this look watching Wynton Marsalis with his Monette horns over the years. You could polish it away easily and make it bright and shiny, but I think that would be a crime! All slides and spit valves work perfectly. Bauerfeind valves are the best in the world. They are like greased lightning, and the only valves Ive ever found that are better than Getzen, which is saying a lot! The horn is “gig ready” immediately. This is one of the best trumpets ever made. I will not accept offers for a lower price than my listing price. I have been a trumpet player for over 40 years. I have acquired about 20 outstanding professional horns over the years, most of them highly collectible. I bought only the best specimens I could find, so you won’t be disappointed with any of my horns.
