Brushed Brass is THE most elegant finish for your horn! A true custom finish made just for you since you pick the look you want!! NOTE: A Brushed finish accents the color of the parts of your horn but silver, nickel, and copper will retain their colors and cannot be changed without other plating being done. This is an offer to completely refinish your trumpet, cornet, or flugelhorn (ANY BRAND) in a Brushed Brass finish. The job includes the following: I do a complete ultrasonic cleaning (sonic tank with a chemical agent wash) of the instrument – inside and out. This removes all the old build-up inside and cleans the outside. I remove any small dents. I strip the old lacquer and then hand polish the entire instrument for shine while maintaining the quality of the metal. I DO NOT BUFF and thin the tubing! That causes problems with sound, playing, and length of service. I then do a hand applied Brushed Brass finish on the horn. Then YOU get to pick how you want the slides and bell interior done. Choose from polished, and or, brushed finishes in any combination! Keep in mind that parts that are nickel or copper will retain their colors and cannot be changed to Brushed brass. Silver plated horns will still be silver unless stripped. That requires me to send them to a plater and to have an additional 6 weeks added to the completion time. Contact me to discuss the options available to you with this finish. Then I lacquer the horn. I use an air cure instrument lacquer to protect the horn as much as possible. I cure it then assemble the horn and change the water corks. Then I align the valves to the valve ports and replace felts and corks. I know what a player expects from his instrument’s performance. I have been playing since 1966 and have refinished almost two hundred horns in Brushed Brass. I take just as much care refinishing a student instrument as I do a professional instrument. Every player deserves to be proud of their horn whether it is a Bach Strad or a Bach Bundy! The price listed is for a complete job in lacquer or raw finish. Any missing parts that are currently available will be an additional cost and must be discussed before you send the horn. Any solder work that needs done will be negotiated before I accept the horn. No severely flattened or crushed instruments will be accepted. I offer the finish with or without lacquer. Please contact me if you have any questions. Since we have had a bad apple now, we are including this Legal Stuff. Normal time is up to three weeks depending on backlog.
