This is a nice example of a Super Olds from the early 1940’s. The lacquer is not original, although the relacquering was done a long time ago, as it’s turned a beautiful dark gold color. In addition, I have spot lacquered the bell ring area, as there was some green there from, acid bleed out? I’m not sure. But it’s good now, with a new coat of gold lacquer on the brass bell ring. There is a color difference which I’ve tried to show in multiple photos. All the parts are original except the 3rd slide push rod. The complete 3rd slide stop is there, with both nuts on either end of the stop rod. It’s hard to find these assemblies complete. The valves are original, and fit loosely. BerpBioOil #3 or Hetman Classic are the correct oils for this instrument. It has the bright tone associated w/the Super; nice horn.
