Beautiful Early Elkhart Bach Stradivarius Model 37
This is a special horn! It’s an Early Elkhart Bach Strad, Model 37, ML bore. It has the Corporation side seam bell. It has two piece valve casing and brass valve guides. It was built in 1970. The original lacquer was worn so we carefully stripped the remaining lacquer and gave it a light brushed finish. You can see that all the engraving and stamping are all crisp and sharp. It has not been over-buffed. All the slides move freely. The pistons are in great condition and compression is excellent. It also has the original case. Wichita Band Instrument Company, Inc. Superb & extra-clean semi-pro trumpet from C. Conn, made in Elkhart (not Texas) in 1969. Model “6B”, in production for only a few years, late sixties / early seventies. NO dents or dings, 100% original bright silver plate, perfect and original pistons, showing NO wear to the nickel-plated valves. Case IS original, but has a small repair. It’s a rare Bb trumpet, worth more if all components are original. Perfect for a high school player or an enthusiastic adult amateur. Wichita Band Instrument Company is a small musical instrument emporium located in the center of the USA. The owners are Kansas natives Gary L. Ray and his two sons. Founded by a woodwind repair technician in 1953, we soon will commence our seventy-first year in business. We’re not a “back bedroom” operation but can report that we are the owners of a proper “brick and mortar” workshop. It’s in addition to any factory guarantees. For two full years, we will repair or replace (whichever in our estimation is the more advisable), pads, corks, springs or other parts required, at no charge to the customer. In the event of cracked or damaged wood sections, we will repair at no cost to the customer or replace the section and charge the customer only for our net costs for the replacement section. Wichita Band Instrument Company maintains a repair department capable of restoration work of the highest quality. Even though repairs are essentially “free” for the first two years, after that period has expired, we remain at your service to maintain and repair your musical equipment forever. Antique Mellophone Horn Windsor Model Elkhart IN 3 Valves Conn Mouthpiece Serial # 64767 No Case. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself! Nice antique Mellophone antique mellophone from Elkhart, IN USA. The mellophone body is all there. The valves move freely. This instrument has the serial number of #64767 on it. There are some dents and dings on the mellophone body. The bell is pretty intact, no dent there. The nickel plated body shows some finish loss and minor corrosion. 2 of the 4 slides still slide open and close. The bore size of each slide is. The body of the mellophone has “Windsor Elkhart IN” and U. The valves operate smoothly and we have oiled the valve assemblies and cylinders to keep them from getting any corrosion, and they are already quite clean. Nice emblazoning of the name and maker on the outside of the bell. One of braces by mouthpiece is missing. As noted, the mouthpiece has “Conn” noted on it. Have not been able to get mouthpiece loose from the horn body. There is some scratching to the mouthpiece on the sides. No marks that would impede play where the lips would make contact with the end. The Mellophone is 15-5/8″ long, by 16″ across (18 w/ mouthpiece in place). The bell is 10.5 across. The Mellophone does not come with a case. This musical instrument is not represented to be in playing condition. The instrument will most likely need refurbishing to make this instrument playable again. This vintage collectible piece is in playing condition. The series of Pan American instruments were made by Conn. There is plenty of cosmetic wear such as scratches, small dings, and marks. There are a couple of small dents (shown in pictures). The instrument comes with the original Conn style case. All valves and slides seem to be in working condition, except the tuning slide needs just a bit of love. It also comes with the original mouthpiece that is specific to the horn. Conn Director Trumpet Elkhart 1969 – Refurbished – Case and Conn 7C MP Bore. 438 – Serial# M12. 98% lacquer Director model plays very well and shows general signs of use and has had bell flair and tail work completed. Valves feel great, slides are firm and smooth and the original Samsonite built case is in good condition. Horn required resoldering the lyre bracket, nice and solid now. Original lyre and Conn 7C mouthpiece are included. UpYourBrass shop policies are to offer only inspected, repaired, thoroughly cleaned, detailed horns. Horn is dis-assembled and inspected, soaked in an organic de-greasing solution and scrubbed. Body, valves and components are treated in an organic chem clean with Tesch products (Tesch is recommended by NAPBIRT). Hand-lapped valves and chambers (This process can take up to an hour). Complete detail of all components, hot water scrubbed and prepped for assembly. Valves aligned, pads and springs replaced as needed. Play tested and final inspected before listing for sale. Clean your instrument regularly (especially lead-pipe and tuning slide) and have a chem-clean or ultrasonic clean done every two years. Vintage cases are all disinfected, cleaned and sanitized but there may be a residual horn smell in any old case. UpYourBrass Policies (please read).
