Conn 22B Trumpet 1952 – Ready to Play – Case and Bach Mt Vernon 7C MP Bore. 438 – Serial# 407. A great playing 22B model with fast valves and smooth slides. Everything moves nicely, horn has inner curve tuning slide damage from being severely stuck and has been expanded as much as possible without disassembling. Case is a little rough but solid and a very nice Bach Mt Vernon 7C mouthpiece is included. UpYourBrass shop policies are to offer only inspected, repaired, thoroughly cleaned, detailed horns. Horn is dis-assembled and inspected, soaked in an organic de-greasing solution and scrubbed. Body, valves and components are treated in an organic chem clean with Tesch products (Tesch is recommended by NAPBIRT). Hand-lapped valves and chambers (This process can take up to an hour). Complete detail of all components, hot water scrubbed and prepped for assembly. Valves aligned, pads and springs replaced as needed. Play tested and final inspected before listing for sale. Most of my horns have sat for long periods of time before reconditioning and need to be cleaned again soon after being brought back into service. Vintage cases are all disinfected, cleaned and sanitized but there may be a residual horn smell in any old case. Clean your instrument regularly (especially lead-pipe and tuning slide) and have a chem-clean or ultrasonic clean done every two years. UpYourBrass Policies (please read). Among brass instruments the’Stradivarius Model’ Bach Trumpet occupies the same supreme position as the genuine Stradivarius Violin among string instruments. Both are masterpieces, the perfection of which is beyond dispute. The Bach Trumpet is a Patrician among instruments; absolutely precise in each mechanical detail, made in exact accordance with established acoustical principles and combining every improved feature that human skill and ingenuity have conceived as applicable to trumpet building. By the time Vincent Bach left the Bronx and began manufacturing trumpets in Mt Vernon, NY, he already had a decades-long reputation for superior design and fine craftsmanship. This trumpet was built in the final years at the Bach Corporation plant on So. MacQuesten Parkway, about 1964. The bell is marked as the Stradivarius Model, but there is no numeric stamp to describe the bell. In those days – the late Mt Vernon period – the bells most used for their medium large Bb trumpets would have been the 43 or the 37. 0.459 ML Bore. One piece hand hammered brass bell with French bead. BACH MT VERNON, NY stamp on valve casing. For the player or collector. Intonation is great, response is great, and of course this horn exemplifies that “Bach sound”. Slides move freely and appropriately. Pistons are smooth and quiet, having undergone a valve job in recent years. The original lacquer is perhaps 70% or more intact, with most of the wear on the valve casing and bell. There is evidence of only minor repairs, including the bell. Comes with the original case good condition!

For your consideration is a vintage 1950’s Vincent Bach Mercedes model Mt. Vernon brass trumpet with a hard shell case included. According to information available on bachbrass. Com, this trumpet would land somewhere between 1955 to 1960 for production based on the serial number (14750). This also puts it in the correct era for production in Mt. Vernon, NY as they moved from NYC in 1953. This trumpet is in mostly good cosmetic condition with only a couple areas showing wear (see photos) and a possible re-lacquer occurring at some point in it’s past. Along with this, the valves are not properly leveled out and would need reset. A simple Selmer hard shell plastic trumpet case is included with this trumpet and is in functional shape but does have small cosmetic afflictions. For example, the inner felt and mouthpiece slot section are worn out. That being said, the trumpet, mouthpiece, and accessories are still secured when closed. Exterior plastic sections are good with no punctures or breaks, but are scuffed and metal sections are rusted slightly. Take advantage in owning a great vintage trumpet project at a lowered price! Very few of these extraordinary instruments were made at the Mount Vernon factory and these are generally considered the best Bach trumpets ever built. This horn is in good condition. This horn is in clean and useable condition – our brass tech recommends using heavy valve oil (we used Berp BioOil #3) for optimal performance. This is a medium-large ML. The bell is marked 37. Silver plate is around 50-60% present, with honest wear from use. Minor dents do not affect play. This horn has an aftermarket trigger modification from previous owner. Valves in ok condition – this horn will eventually need a valve job but plays fine as is. This horn comes with a case in good condition, may be newer than the instrument but age appropriate; no other accessories are included.
