H N White King 3B Concert Silver Sonic Trombone made in Cleveland, Ohio. This is a very nice original condition horn that plays great that came out of a players estate. He must of loved this horn by evidence of the wear on the contact points of his hands. I played it against my 3B SS and there was no difference in playability or quality of sound. It has no dents. I havent graded a slide 10 out of 10 yet out of the 600+ I’ve owned. I would gig with it and be very happy with the way it plays and sounds. The top of the inner slide stocking is starting to show a tiny bit of wear (Picture 8). When I drag my finger nail across it, it does not catch on it. The rest of the inner tubes have no wear. The traditional cornet lines, with gently sweeping mouthpipe, insure the rich sound. Combine this beauty and tone quality with truly rugged construction, and you have an instrument worthy of the name King. You play relaxed, and know this King Cornet will deliver all that you ask. Solid Sterling Silver Bell responds instantly, gives precise control, projects farther. The sound is richer, slightly darker with more overtones and the tone will not crack-ever! –King White Way Catalog #10, 1938. For sale by The H. White Company LLC, this magnificent Cornet with its solid sterling silver bell is in remarkable shape for its age. This cornet has been restored. The finish is new bake on lacquer which has better durability. The valves perform perfect and are super responsive. All slides are stamped with the appropriately matched serial numbers and fit perfect so there is no loss of air pressure. This cornet has new clear sprayed on lacquer which is rated at 98% perfect. The engraving is perfect. The gold wash is new 99% perfect. There are no large dents. There is one very small ding in the bell flair. There was some pitting on the exterior of the number three valve, see pictures. All slides operate smoothly. The springs are new. All the slides and valves are stamped with the appropriate serial numbers. Comes with original lyre and cleaning rod. The cornet comes in its original Gladstone style case. The HN White made Gladstone case is one of our favorites and this one looks great but has some issues. The handle was replaced. The case straps are intact but very week. Someone pulled of the top and we have glued it back on, see pictures. The interior of the case is in excellent shape but is missing its King name badge. We do not recommend that this case be used with day to day activities. This Cornet sounds great with its mellow full tone that you can only get with a solid sterling silver bell. Vintage King 3B Concert Silver Sonic trombone with gold plated bell. This was a find at a local shop, so I do not know the individual history of this horn. Although Im a musician, Im not a brass expert and my knowledge of vintage jazz trombones is pretty limited beyond knowing that this is a desirable horn that really needed a better home. The horn seems to be in very good condition with light use, despite its age. There are a few sins and scratches, but nothing major – the largest (by far) is about the size of a pea, and is pictured in detail. I wiped it down a bit and greased the slide, but otherwise it is as-found. The silver, brass, and gold bell all look great. I would say finish/cosmetics are about a 9/10. Some signs of normal/light wear in the usual spots. The slide is nice and smooth. Seems perfect from my woodwind perspective – no bumps or issues. The tuning slide is also in good shape with no issues. The weighted King emblem can be easily disassembled, smoothly, with no problems. The lock is in excellent condition. The water key is also in excellent condition. The gold plated bell plated on top of the silver? A couple light scratches from a stand or mute, but thats it. It comes in what I presume to be the original king case, which is in excellent condition. Green velvet interior (8/10) and brown leather exterior (8/10). There is no mouthpiece included. Overall I would describe the instrument as pristine and extremely clean for its age. It looks like it was well cared for and sat mostly unplayed for many years. Again, Im a musician (hs/college band director) but not a brass expert. The pictures are part of the description. This instrument is as-is, as-found, and the sale will be final. White King Super 20 alto saxophone with full pearls and a sterling silver socket neck. This first series vintage Super 20 alto sax is complete and no keys are missing or broken. The pads and corks are older and some may need to be replaced in the near future. There are a few noticeable minor bottom bow dents present and the body/neck have several minor dings throughout. The body and sterling silver socket neck share the same serial number, which is in the upper 287, xxx range and dates the year of manufacture to approximately 1947. There are scratches throughout from normal use and some lacquer wear, but most of what appears to be the original lacquer is present and approximately 85 to 90% of the lacquer is intact. Included is a somewhat used King wood shell alto saxophone case(leather trim is worn and has a noticeable tear, has a center buckle latch and one case latch spring is broken, but both outer latches catch as intended, interior is intact, case handle may need to be replaced soon).
