Vintage 1935 Conn Transitional 6M Naked Lady Alto Saxophone Rolled Tone Holes. On offer today – A Conn 6M Naked lady transitional alto saxophone with original case. The serial number is 270xxx which dates it to 1935. This is one of the wonderful transitionals out there. The official M Naked Lady models were advertised to the public in 1935, the previous model being the New Wonder Two (known for its distinct G# nail file lever). This horn is one of the rare ones caught on the production line between these two phases and shows the combined trait/s of both models. It has all the 6M attributes (same-sided bell keys, the curved high E palm key, the silver-plated adjustable thumb hook, the removal of the forked Eb resonance key, the improved G# cluster, the underslung microtuner neck, and, most importantly, the Naked Lady engraving) but retains the New Wonder Two the serial number stamp layout. This horn does not have the 6M stamp in the serial number, very unusual given the year it was made. This alto has been well looked after and is in good condition. The lacquer looks lovely with that deep golden tint it has acquired with age. All the original pearl pinky rollers are there without any chips to them. It has all of its original Conn pivot lock-screws (quite a rarity in itself) along with its original hard case. This alto saxophone has a served me well what a powerful player! It has had new pads installed but will need servicing/regulating after transit to be in playing condition so please bear this in mind. The case is good and strong as ever with no splits in the wood and the all latches functioning. Berkeley cases, mouthpieces, and many vintage U. A altos, tenors, and baritones. Valve triggers have been split to modern day thumb / finger set up with Nylon ball joints. Slide is a wide 0.562 traditional single bore with Yellow brass outers brand new Inner slides have been professionally replaced giving this slide great compression and a smooth a silk 10/10 slide action. Original lead-pipe converted to a push-fit, allowing the bonus of you being able to fit (by yourself no tools) a whole range of other aftermarket push-fit replica Lead-pipes that are available. Due to the age of this horn, there are a number of marks / scratches evident from the 45+ years this has been used, but is still a solid reliable horn. Vintage Bach Stradivarius LT16M tenor trombone with lightweight slide, serial number 39796. This instrument was manufactured in Elkhart, Indiana in 1979. The lightweight slide has a bore of. 508 and the bell measures 7 ½. The bell engraving reads: STRADIVARIUS/ MODEL 16/ VINCENT BACH CORPORATION/ ELKHART, IND. The slide receiver barrel reads 39796/MODEL/16/M. The bell section is in raw brass and shows signs of previous damage l. Ocalized in the bell flare and throat. Dents, creases, waves, scratches, and poorly executed dent repairs, Ive been able to fix most of it, but reworking the bell is tricky because previous dent work hardened the brass. Even with spot annealing, it can be a difficult proposition. Trying to make it perfect risks destroying the horn. The tuning slide crook shows evidence of dent work, but is in good shape and moves freely. There is no damage on the neckpipe. The bell section has been Flitz polished. The nickel-silver handslide has been overhauled: lacquer stripped, dings removed, tubes flex-honed, slide aligned and new felts installed. The inner chrome plated slide tubes are in very good condition with only one small spot of wear on the top edge of the upper stocking, which does not affect slide action: its an 8-9/10! The horn plays like an artist making up for cosmetic shortcomings! It slots well and sounds a little warmer and more natural than a lacquered 16. This is a terrific solo instrument. Its the smoothest-sounding 16 Ive ever played. Perhaps thats why its aged so well. It was a keeper for me. The instrument is clean and ready to play. Just add slide lube. Includes a Bach coffin case with minor scrapes to the vinyl leatherette, but otherwise in very good condition. Ive been a player, collector and repair tech for many years, but now find that its become more of a burden than a joy to keep, restore, and maintain so many trombones. Vintage Henri Selmer Paris Largo tenor trombone serial number 8710. This instrument was manufactured in France in the late 1960s. Remarkable condition for its age. The Largo slide bore is. 547 and the bell measures 8 11/16 (220 mm). This instrument plays very well and has a bright tonal quality, somewhat unusual for a symphonic bore instrument. The bell brass is heavier than most, which accounts for its ability to project well. It is a terrific solo instrument or great for a small ensemble. The bell engraving reads: HENRI SELMER/ PARIS/ SELMER/ MADE IN FRANCE. The slide receiver barrel reads Largo and the mouthpiece receiver barrel has the Henri Selmer Paris logo with the serial number. The bell section is in very good condition with minimal signs of damage. There are some scratches and tiny dings on the bell throat and flare. Lacquer is 80+% intact, with wear at the neck tube, tuning slide crook and 1. Lacquer has flaked at the bell flair bead (see pic). There are signs of previous dent work on the tuning slide crook, but its in good shape and moves freely. The handslide has been overhauled: lacquer stripped, dings removed, tubes flex-honed, slide aligned and new felts installed. A slight crease on the slide receiver barrel does not affect handslide operation. The inner slide tubes are in excellent condition and handslide action is 8-9/10. The handslide has been Flitz polished. This gem is clean and ready to howl! Just add slide lube; comes with a custom hardshell case. Its clean and in very good condition. Ive been a player, collector and repair tech for many years, but now find that its become more of a burden than a joy to keep, restore, and maintain so many trombones.
