This Trombone came to us with a damaged hand brace and in order to repair it we had to use a newly manufactured part which resulted in the removal of the Trombones serial number. The Trombones original serial number was 419674. The slide performs perfect and has been serviced by The Slide Doctor. The Trombone has new sprayed on clear lacquer. The body of the Trombone is in great shape and has almost no scratches, there are a few very small ones but they would not show up in the pictures. The engraving is crisp for this era horn. This trombone has been re-lacquered and is now 99.9% perfect. The Sterling silver bell does not have any lacquer on it. Gold wash in the bell is new and about 99.9% perfect. There are no large dents anywhere on the trombone. The inner tubes have some wear on them. The slide is a nine out of ten. This Trombone comes with later King counterweight. Comes with King case. This 3B comes with a famous coffin case which is in good condition. The interior of the case is in excellent shape. Overall the exterior on this case is in good shape. The middle latch is missing. This is a Gen II Conn 62H with Greenhoe valve set. Yes, a real Greenhoe valve set! Greenhoe sent valve sections to Conn, who assembled them with the stock Conn 62H parts to make what I think is the best stock 62H that has been produced. Horn consists of the stock 62H red bell, red tuning slide, Greenhoe valve set, and Conn SL6262 (single bore) slide with D leadpipe. I have been playing this horn nonstop in professional settings for the last couple weeks. It is better than my main horn in many respects- short valve throw, fast response, more projection, more support in the upper register, etc. I play Thayers usually, but these Greenhoe valves feel very good. Better than any stock rotors, and better than many fancy rotors! I recently compared this to a friend’s Greenhoe modified 62H (parts sent to Greenhoe for assembly, the other way around). The horn is not in perfect shape- the slide has some dings, mostly in the crook, and something in one of the outers. Honestly, I haven’t noticed in any huge way and it plays great. I would say the action is a solid 7.5/10 with Yamaha lube. Just replaced the spit valve cork. Bell section also has a couple small dings and lacquer loss. The bell itself shows signs of perhaps repair or being stored in an Altieri bag… I’m not sure, since it is completely square and true across the bell rim and doesn’t seem soft from any work. In any case, it responds very well and sounds great. Valves are quick and quiet, I cleaned them and oiled them with Ultra Pure oils. I used this instrument to audition for festivals and make it on to the state level of competition as well as being accepted to universities as a musician. It is perfect for a student who is serious about trombone or is looking to have a quality instrument for their time in high school and beyond. This is a MINT Jupiter XO model professional symphonic trombone with THAYEER VALVE. Jupiter is a relatively new entry into the world of professional model instruments and as a trombone player I must say I’m pretty impressed. These horns play very nicely with a dark tone quality and excellent response. This horn has a nice open trigger register and this horn plays very nice. The Thayer axial flow valve makes for a very open trigger register. Factor in the attractive price point and you have a winner! This particular instrument in in perfect condition. THE HAND SLIDE IS SMOOTH, QUICK, QUIET & VERY RESPONSIVE JUST LIKE THE F ATTACHMENT. THE ROTOR & TUNING SLIDE WERE CLEANED AND LUBRICATED. THE BELL HAS SOME LIGHT PINGS AND A FEW SMALL DINGS (NOTHING SERIOUS). A FEW DENTS WERE PROFESSIONALY REMOVED ON THE BELL TUBING 12 FROM BELL RIM, A SMALL DING ON THE E PULL (NOTHING SERIOUS). LIGHT SURFACE SCRATCHES AROUND THE HORN (NOTHING SERIOUS). THE HORN IS IN REMARKABLE CONDITION FOR BEING 47 YEARS OLD. COMES WITH ORIGINAL CONN CONSTELLATION MOUTHPIECE, MOUTHPIECE ADAPTER, LYRE & ORIGINAL CONN HARD SHELL CASE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. The 60H is essentially the same as the 62H, except that it has a single rotor attachment. As on the 62H, the 60H has the tuning slide in the hand slide. The advantage of having the tuning slide in the hand slide is that this allows the entire bell section to be conical, instead of there being a cylindrical section to allow for the tuning slide. The 60H has a red brass bell (or “rose brass” as it is called these days). The 60H was produced between at least 1968 and 1972, and was probably discontinued sometime between 1973 and 1980. In a 1969 ad featuring the 60H, 62H, 71H and 73H, Conn says: We have just created the 4 finest bass trombones in the world… What Conn said in the 1970’s: Red brass bell for darker sound.
