This horn is perfect for solo, chamber, and orchestral literature, though the late, great Brazilian jazz trumpeter, Claudio Roditi also had a Pleischl model. I’ve used it in these settings, most recently performing the iconic trumpet “solo” in Siegfried-Idyll and also teaching jazz ensemble to my students while trying to harness some of Maestro Roditi’s (whom I knew) bebop brilliance. Horn is in bright silver plated with a medium-large bell Krantz, 3rd valve trigger with 3rd valve water key, and mini-ball linkages. All in perfect working order, and ready for professional use. One cool feature I couldn’t capture in the photos are the main and 3rd slide waterkeys have insets built into the keys – whether this helps with sealing overall or is designed to help with the “Klappen” overblow key, I’m not sure, but the main slide key works GREAT on top line F, high Bb/D/F. This beautiful 1954 Los Angeles Ambassador cornet appears to have been well cared for. Plays freely with great intonation. There are a few minor dings and imperfections, and lacquer wear that has been hand polished. The whole bell is polished bare brass. NO DEEP DENTS OR BENDS. The bell shows evidence of well done repair. The braces at the valve casings have been re-soldered. The valves show wear, but play great – matching serial numbers. Valves and slides move smoothly. Lubed with Ultra Pure Black Label Classic valve oil and Conn/Selmer tuning slide grease. Good compression for it’s age. Valve caps and bottoms screw on/off smoothly. Valves aligned with new valve cap felts and n ew water key corks installed. Includes Olds 3C mouthpiece, Winston wah mute, straight mute, lyre and Olds case. Very well taken care of, Stradivarius 132238, so late 70’s, or early 80’s? Some pitting on the lead pipe, and by the water key (pics). All other aspects of this Stradivarius are excellent! Valve action is great. And all slides are well oiled. This has been played and assessed by our professional trumpet player on staff (he’s an excellent musician). In an unsolicited manner, he said that this trumpet was his favorite out of all the Strads that we have in stock. It comes with a protect case like new (pic). Jerome Callet New York Trumpet. Beginning signs of red rot in main tuning slide, however no impact on the playing condition and shouldn’t advance with proper care and cleaning.
