Bach Stradivarius 50B Professional Bass Trombone with OE Thayer Valve

Bach Stradivarius 50B Professional Bass Trombone with OE Thayer valve. This instrument is in excellent condition.. It appears that the instrument was used professionally by a member of a military band prior to me. Minor work on bell throat was done by the previous owner to correct any dents. No additional dents appear on the instrument. The slide moves very well – 9.5 out of 10 action – with no abnormal wear spots. I’ve only used Yamaha Slide lubricant. The slide section also includes a removable leadpipe. (note-it only came with the one leadpipe, though it looks like it would take standard Edwards leadpipes). Thayer valve moves quickly with no issues. Lacquer is at about 95% on the bell section; 70% on the slide section. Comes with original hard shell case – AND the Leather Specialties neck guard. I’ve owned this bass trombone for the past few years, and have only played it over the past two summers in the hopes of increasing my range and versatility as a trombonist. (I play tenor trombone semi-professionally in the area) The Thayer valve blows very freely – a little too freely for me – and so I’ve opted for a different bass trombone with a more traditional rotor feel. This is a wonderful instrument, and I’m hoping it will find a home with a musician that can really appreciate the Thayer valve as it was meant to be. Bell and valves have a corresponding numbers to a body serial ORIGINAL GREAT CONDITION Bill Chase played a fixed bell B6 from 1965 through’68. Thereafter he played a B6Lb (a B6 with a tunable beryllium bell). How he came to play Schilke is an interesting story. Chase was romantically interested in a dancer who was performing in San Francisco. When Bill went to see her perform, he started talking shop, as is the habit among trumpet players, with one of the trumpet players in the ballet orchestra, a fellow for whom the original B6 was designed. After playing his, Chase had to have one. The classic medium bore trumpet, the B6 has been an extremely popular choice for all musicians, especially the commercial player. White King Super 20 alto saxophone with full pearls and a sterling silver socket neck. This first series vintage Super 20 alto sax is complete and no keys are missing or broken. The pads and corks are older and some may need to be replaced in the near future. There are a few noticeable minor bottom bow dents present and the body/neck have several minor dings throughout. The body and sterling silver socket neck share the same serial number, which is in the upper 287, xxx range and dates the year of manufacture to approximately 1947. There are scratches throughout from normal use and some lacquer wear, but most of what appears to be the original lacquer is present and approximately 85 to 90% of the lacquer is intact. Included is a somewhat used King wood shell alto saxophone case(leather trim is worn and has a noticeable tear, has a center buckle latch and one case latch spring is broken, but both outer latches catch as intended, interior is intact, case handle may need to be replaced soon). The hand slide action is smooth and the serial number is in the mid 368, xxx range, which dates the year of manufacture to approximately 1959. This trombone has scratches throughout from normal use and appears to have most of its original lacquer, with approximately 90-95% of lacquer and inner bell gold plating intact.
