This is a rare and desirable example of an original silver-plated vintage Conn New Wonder II Chu Berry tenor saxophone manufactured in 1927, #M198XXX. His sax is in well-worn used condition with plenty of wear and scratching from many years of playing, but everything works great, and it is set up to good playing adjustment on pads around midlife or a bit older, with necessary recent replacements. A Selmer-style thumbrest and additional neckstrap ring are added and the thumbrest and octave key are modified for easier action. There is an extension on the high D# key. The work is solid and professional. This sax blows very easily and projects very strongly with a warm vintage edge. Slingerland Buddy Rich Snare Drum TDR 6.5 x 14 10-lug COB Brass. Serial #469338 indicating late 70’s vintage. This is the top of the line Slingerland snare drum with three air vents and the TDR snare throw which is considered the best strainer they ever made. Drum is in very good condition- it has scratches in the shell and bottom rim from use; top batter rim is new repro. All tension rods are in place and lugs have been lubricated. TDR has new rubber bushing needed for proper operation. New puresound snares but included are the original Slingerland snare wires. Shell had some minor dents/bends which were pounded out- it is straight with no major dents or bending (this is common w/ Slingerland brass shells). Inside gray paint shows some flaking from shell straightening. No rust- chrome is in nice condition, but there’s a little discolored ring around the air vents- see pics. This drum is clean, shiny and adjusted so there’s nothing you need do but tune it up and play. Evans heads are recent and in great condition.
