This is a rare fine-playing example of a Selmer Super alto saxophone #183XX manufactured in Paris, France in 1933. Pads are older but flexible, with necessary replacements and t. His sax is set up to good playing adjustment. Moderate wear and scratching on it’s worn vintage laquer finish. Radio Improved octave mechanism although this sax is indicated as a “Cigar Cutter” by it’s serial number. Likely because this was a transitional period between models, some new features were included in some examples such as this one. This sax has exceptional projection and a fine consistent vintage edge. 1971 Selmer Mark VI Alto Sax. 187XXX (Body- and brace to bell matching). BODY: Most of the lacquer chemical removed for improved resonance. PADS: New with domed plastic resonators. CASE: Unoriginal carrying case in fair condition. Assembled by Selmer Paris (European assembled). This saxophone has been fully serviced and are ready to go. Please note that the original Selmer Paris european assembled Mark VI did not have serial number on the neck as the USA assembled Mark VI had. This sax is a player and not a looker! It plays great from top to bottom! There are no major dents but there are there are a lot of cosmetic issues in general all over the body. Issues like re-solders, very small / minor unevennesses from previous dent work been carried out, scratches e. The bell looks like being re-soldered at some point in the past as well as two of the key guards and the brace to bell. The key guard for the lower stack mechanism is brand new and coming from a Selmer Paris SA 80. However, this sax has been thoroughly and professional rebuilt including swedging of the keyword to remove slack, all new pads and USA Music Medic “tech cork” in places where compression over time is critical in to avoid leakage over time among other. The neck body has been tightened and tested for leakage with special leakage tools. All pads glued in with the “correct” type of glue for sax pads type Shellac. (Clear shellac from USA MusicMedic). Selmer MarkVI Alto Saxophone, RARE. For sale is a 1960 Special Ordered Selmer Mark VI Alto, with 99.9% (Actually, it’s 100%, but just in case) original silver plating in-tact, and gold wash bell. Special ordered with high F#, high Eb trill, G# trill, Eb trill. Obviously ordered by a classical player. Please see the photos to see all the special keys, and factory mods, etc. Let me say again, all these special mods have been done at the Selmer factory while the horn was being assembled. This horn is 100% original. This is the proverbial “white elephant”, a horn that doesn’t or isn’t supposed to exist. The only one like it I’ve ever seen set up this way, 5-digit, European the “S” on the octave key is painted a dark, navy blue. As this horn is 100% original, I believe this color to be as well. Not the normal royal blue, or black painted “S” you see on European horns of this vintage, etc. This horn has all the earmarks of a MkVI. The most versatile sound ever in Selmer history, big and bold, soft and sweet, and everything in between. Equally at home in a classical or jazz setting. Being silver plated, the response is slightly different from lacquered horn, as you know. Comes with the original Selmer tray-pak case (that has seen better days), and custom reproduction lignum vitae neck plug. The pictures say it all! Rarest of the rare! ALL SALES ARE FINAL, NO exceptions!!! This is not for those looking to try out a vintage horn, then bail out. Go to your local music store for that. Only ships to the US 50 States, and?? Selmer Paris Mark VI Tenor Saxophone. Selmer Paris Mark 6. This Mark VI Tenor is a true player’s horn. Original lacquer that has age-worn beautifully along the bell engraving (see photos). More importantly, the horn has the rich, warm tone from top to bottom that comes with the Mark VI reputation. Note that much of the lacquer has been removed along the side of the horn and back of the bell, as can be seen in the photos. Additionally, there are minor scratches in addition to the lacquer wear but nothing unexpected for a 50 year old horn.
