This is a great-playing example of a top vintage King Super 20 Special alto saxophone #338XXX. It is a highly desirable vintage Super 20, manufactured in 1955 in Cleveland, Ohio USA in their absolute peak period of quality, with a reverse socket neck and extra pearl touches and most of the keys. Matching serial number on the neck. It has older pads, still flexible and t. His sax is set up to good playing adjustment. This horn is well-used and it has a number of shallow dents, no effect on it’s excellent sound. It blows very freely with strong alto character and plenty of edge and projection. It is a prime vintage Zephyr, manufactured in 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio USA, the absolute peak period of quality. It has good pads around midlife and t. His sax is set up to good playing adjustment. Speckling and scratches and small dents for it’s age. Repair of neck dents seen in photo #4, no effect on it’s great sound. This sax has a great edge, even response and blows very easily. Vintage KING SUPER 20 TENOR SAXOPHONE 1953 ORIG. LACQUER DBL SOCKET STERLING NECK. Just completely repadded by Yves Prager in Savannah, GA. Yves also does all Jody Jazz personal professional horns. Original case and new professional case included. Case has a cool pocket under the horn for reads and such. This saxophone also includes the original paper work from King dating to January 27th, 1953 seriously who keeps that stuff! It’s a one owner horn. I just received it so I’m technically the second owner. Has a dark rich sound. I have too many so this one must go. The neck is perfect. Lacquer is 80% intact. The inner slides have been replaced as well as the lead pipe. EricSwanson did the custom work. Mouthpiece shown in pictures not included.
