Total Satin refinish for trumpet cornet or flugelhorn
THE hottest new Satin finish for your horn! A true custom finish made just for you since you pick the look you want!! NOTE: Silver plate instruments will be Satin silver unless we discuss it first also the nickel and brass on your instrument cannot be changed to copper or silver without plating it. This is an additional charge! This is an offer to completely refinish your trumpet, cornet, or flugelhorn (ANY BRAND) in Satin Brass finish. The job includes the following: I do a complete ultrasonic clean (sound based wash) of the instrument – inside and out. This removes all the old build-up inside and cleans the outside. I remove any small dents. I strip the old lacquer and then hand polish the entire instrument for shine while maintaining the quality of the metal. I DO NOT BUFF and thin the tubing! That causes problems with sound, playing, and length of service. I then do a glass bead blast finish on the horn. Then YOU get to pick how you want the slides and bell interior done. Choose from polished, satin, or brushed finishes! Keep in mind that parts that are nickel or copper will retain their colors and cannot be changed to satin brass. Silver plated horns will still be silver unless stripped. That requires me to send them to a plater and to have an additional 6 weeks added to the completion time. Contact me to discuss the options available to you with this finish. Then I lacquer the horn. I use an air cure instrument lacquer to protect the horn as much as possible. I cure it then assemble the horn and change the water corks. Then I align the valves to the valve ports and replace felts and corks. I know what a player expects from his instrument’s performance. I have been playing since 1966 and have refinished several hundred horns in Satin. I take just as much care refinishing a student instrument as I do a professional instrument. Every player deserves to be proud of their horn whether it is a Bach Strad or a Bach Bundy! The price listed is for a complete job in lacquer or raw finish. Any missing parts that are currently available will be an additional cost and must be discussed before you send the horn. Any solder work that needs done will be negotiated before I accept the horn. No severely flattened or crushed instruments will be accepted. I offer the finish with or without lacquer. Please contact me if you have any questions. Since we have had a bad apple now, we are including this Legal Stuff. Normal time is up to five weeks depending on backlog. ALL SALES FINAL, NO WARRANTIES on lacquer wear, we honor our word and expect the same from you. You must pay within 10 days or we will re-list the item. And HEY, have a great day!! 8Z “Vintage Wrap” Shephards Crook Cornet. I see there are accolades posted on the web claiming this is one of the great cornets. This cornet emulates to some degree, the cornets of the late 19th century era “short” cornets. It is a very sweet playing cornet. There is considerable engraving on the bell tube. There is also an engraving criss-cross pattern around the inside rim of the bell that is a nice decorative touch. This is the only one of these cornets that we have had so we can only say it’s a really fine player. One horn dealer with a presence on a web video plays a tune using a deep cup mouthpiece and the resulting sound is extremely close to the flugelhorn and may in fact match some flugelhorns. Although you may prefer traditional cornet tone which you achieve with a more normal cup mouthpiece. The custom BENGE case is very nice in all-black. The interior is nicely padded with very thick padding in the lid. The only scratch I see on it is in fact on the Benge logo plate on the outside of the case. This cornet came here with 3 dings on the leadpipe and 1 or 2 on the bell tube near the backbow. I have removed these leaving the leadpipe surface fixed, but imperfect with some orange-peel effect at those former ding spots because to make it perfect is beyond the expertise here. The valves are extra long and tall and this feature might distinguish this Benge-made version from any that may have been made at Kanstul or some other factory. Another nice feature you get with this cornet is the throw hook on slide #1, permitting adjustment for intonation. I don’t see any evidence of brassing. This Benge cornet is not returnable. A mouthpiece is supplied with this Benge 8Z Cornet which is probably going to be a. Bach 10 ½ C. OLDS, BACH, KING, GETZEN, COURTOIS, KODIAK, SUPRA..
