I was teaching middle school band and wanted a french horn that I could use in class to play and demonstrate. I also used it in a brass quintet and an adult community band. I’ve been playing horn enough and consistently now, though, that I’ve decided to get an upgrade, and this horn needs to find a new home. It is a C. Conn double horn, stenciled from Elkhart Indiana, with a serial number of M5640. I believe that it is an early version of the 6D model, as is it wrapped in the same manner and has the same bracing design and metal coloration. All parts move and work like they should; all rotors have good compression. The case is probably the original case from however many decades ago and has seen better days, but the latches still work and clasps are secure. There is one clasp that has a locking mechanism, but I’ve never had the key and never tried to lock it. Intonation is decent (it has the usual notes/fingerings with their sharper or flatter tendencies), blows freely, and would be appropriate for an intermediate student looking for their own double horn.
