VINTAGE 1949 CONN 10M NAKED LADY TENOR SAX SAXOPHONE WITH CASE. You are looking at a great classic 1949 Conn horn. It is in really good shape for being 70 years old. A little about my self. This horn speaks with a very rich warm tone in the lower register and doesn’t thin out when playing in the upper register. Put some faster air through it and it growls with the best of them from that era. I played this horn chromatically from the top of it’s register all the way down to bottom low B quite comfortably. Now the condition details to the best of my ability. Has no repairs solder or otherwise. Has a lot of it’s original lacquer but is worn through in the usual areas. There are various scuffs, scratches, and small dings throughout primarily on the lower bout and bell section but nothing too serious (See pictures). Will benefit from a detailed cleaning and you might want to have it adjusted to your liking. Clappers seal well as the pads are still soft and supple including the most notorious one that tends to crack up first above the thumb hook. In saying that, it needs to be mentioned that there are a few of the pads that are split around the outer seems but are not compromising the center of the pad or how they seal. All braces and original solder points are solid. Springs are also working well. The mouthpiece receiver cork is tight and is good condition with some wear. The pip pad is also good and seals well and the spring in the octave key is reliable as well. Most of the the lacquer is worn off of the neck. This horn will come with two great mouthpieces. A rare Penn Los Angeles plastic mouthpiece with no # in excellent condition. No teeth grooves, or chips of any kind. Table is perfect and this comes with a ligature and cap. A red Santy Runyon jazz mouthpiece also with no #. Surface and table are nice but has internal pressure cracks which are pretty common on these. Also comes with a lyre, neck plug, and original neck strap. This appears to be an original Conn case but It doesn’t have the logo anywhere on it. I must say through, that I have seen this model from this year range come with several different cases so I’m really not sure. Cosmetically is has some tears in the tolex and in the end bands but none of the stitching has seperated from the wood. The handles are tight and solid. On thr bottom of the case the wood seems to be seperating a little under the tolex but case still feels solid and strong. Hinges have a bit of light rust as do the latches. All of the hinges and latches are in tact and work and the springs in the latches are still active too. The button on the right latch sticks a little bit but is not frozen. The interior of the case is in good condition as well but the box for the accessories in loose as they only glued it in and did not screw it in through the wood. I think I covered everything. You may need to know and it looks way better in person! I will pack the inside of the case to secure the horn and contents not just bubble wrap the outside of the case.
