1951 Selmer SBA Super Balanced Action alto saxophone. Serial number 47395 on both body and neck. In very good cosmetic and working condition. Solid brass with no dents and crisp detailed engraving that you can feel. Good pads and felts. Inside the front lip there appears to be a few spots of rusting but it’s just on the surface and feels fairly smooth (see fourth photo). Comes with original case and end plug, and Mc Gregory Model A mouthpiece, all in good condition. In the photos you will see a lot of green but that’s just the reflection of my shirt; there is no green on the instrument other than the felts. This is a BEAUTIFUL Mark VI 143xxx Tenor Saxophone that sounds as good as it looks but it will be taken to the doctor of those babies Mr. The Bell and Bow are in fantastic condition and the action on this horn feels excellent. Seems the neck was built with microphone system and later on was professionally removed and is the only noticeable sings otherwise is 80 t0 90% original including the case. The sound is complex and rich, is extremely free blowing, and jumps out from bottom to top with full-spectrum brilliance. This is a great chance to get an early Mark VI in absolutely awesome condition. It comes with its original case which does very little besides just being the original case. Selmer Mark VI Tenor #65xxx. This is a great opportunity to get a really solid playing 5-digit Mark VI at a discounted price. This horn has been re-laquered and still displays very nicely, with the engraving still sharp and crisp, which is something that you dont see all too often with re-laquered horns. This also might be a good candidate for a bare-brass restoration if you desire to give the horn an older and more unique look. From a playing perspective, this horn has a really nice and even tone across all registers. It is currently playing well on older pads, but will ultimately need to be overhauled down the road.
