For sale is a beautiful original lacquer full pearl King Super 20 alto saxophone with a recent overhaul! This horn is a prime era Super 20 serial #303xxx original lacquer example, from 1949, with a solid silver neck, full pearls, in that stunning original shiny gold King lacquer, that only so often comes around! These horns are getting more and more difficult to find (more difficult that a vintage Mark VI), especially the full pearls version, in such a great condition and therefore becoming more and more expensive!! When well-maintained, these horns will certainly keep their value for future…. Back in the days King used two types of lacquer, one coloring into very dark brown over the years and other one coloring into the bright gold color with a more red glow on this… This horn has the latter version lacquer. This horn is a seriously beautiful horn with original ornate factory hand engravings! Xxx is sometimes called the series 1A transitional, with the full pearls lined up and down the horn, popping silver neck, the B and Bflat key cups engraved, the single neck strap ring and the improved left hand pinky cluster, with Bflat in the bottom rather then next to the B and C (like the older King Zephyr and Series 1 S20 and also the Conn 6M used to have). This horn has been fully overhauled bottom to top with new pads approximately 4 years ago, and has no clicks, metal on metal or play on the keys. All of the corks and felts are in nice condition. But this is all cosmetic and doesn’t effect the playing or sound characteristics of the beautiful horn. This horn ships with is an old case in decent condition… If you are going to travel a lot with this horns (going to gigs) a more solid case (hard shell) is recommended.
