King Zephyr Baritone Sax Just Overhauled Great Player! Circa-1951
White KING Zephyr Baritone Saxophone. This incredible King Zephyr baritone sax was previously owned by the New Orleans saxophone legend, Dr. The horn is a true player’s horn. Incredible resonance, brilliant tone, bold and rich sound and good intonation across the range of the horn. Just overhauled, the horn has new pads with metal resonators, new corks and felts. Original springs are all in great condition. Horn was cleaned and regulated for professional performance. The King Zephyr was the state-of-the-art saxophone in the 1950s, prior to the advent of the Selmer Mark VI and King Super 20. In many ways, the Zephyr horns produce a bolder and richer tone and sound than more modern horns. This horn was manufactured at King’s Cleveland factory and has the double-socket neck. The case is the original King case. It is in good condition for its age and very elegant in its shape. There are a couple of exterior covering blemishes, clearly shown in the pictures. Extensive pictures of the horn below. There have been some metal damage and repairs over its life. The body, bell and upper bow of the horn are all in great overall shape with minimal dents and dings. The finish of the horn is an almost copper / gold finish. She’s a KILLER player!! Pre-War French Besson Bb Trumpet Perfect Condition Made c. Besson Brevete 96 Rue D’Angouleme, Paris on Bell Bb Trumpet. Serial Number 84760 Made in Paris c. 1924 Penetrating Sweet Tone Great Condition-Valves Near Perfect. Another beautiful collectable and rare trumpet! This vintage Pre War French made F. Besson Bb trumpet was restored recently and is still in fantastic condition. Serial number 84760 places the date of manufacture c. All the features of these early Bessons, including the straight angled second valve tuning slide and the solid brass valve buttons. The condition is great with only some minor dings and a little valve plating wear. Despite this the compression is better than 95%. Some information has been offered from brass expert Josh Landress on the condition of the horn. He says it appears the bell section was replaced at a later date. There are patches, (see photos), the 2nd valve slide pull knob is a replacement, the 3rd slide ferrule is not original, brace on tuning slide is missing and the first slide has no ring. Bell measures 4 3/4 and the bore appears to be. 460 The venturi at the receiver measures. This rare vintage Besson trumpet will include a case, mouthpiece and valve oil. Really a find restored to great playing condition! If you’ve always loved these French Besson’s you’ll want to give this one a try. So sweet with a pure clean tone. Conn 26M Connqueror Alto Saxophone made in 1935 (SN=267XXX) on offer. The 26M plays from high F to low Bb but will need adjustment to play extremely well and smooth. Pads are in decent shape overall. All 8 rollers are present and fully functional. Neck strap ring is almost worn through and will need to be reversed/replaced for secure use–especially with a metal end neck strap. It does sound like an typical (great) early 6M/26M with a large centered tone that will take pretty much all the air you can give it. The body has evidence of some minor dings/dents and past body/re-soldering work. Also, a non-original King style key guard is installed over the low Eb key (see last pic). The engraving has been buffed (still visible but definitely very diminished) and the horn has been re-lacquered with little lacquer. The neck has some dings but is overall in good shape and seals well to the body of the 26M with nice cork. The 30M’s are a fairly rare/premium Conn pre-WWII Tenor, and include sterling silver key touches on all non-mother of pearl keys. The pads seal and have flat metal resonators with rivets. The horn plays ok but budget for needed adjustment/regulation and personalization to taste. The horn itself has been re-lacquered/buffed, though the original engraving is still evident. The horn has some minor dings, dimples and evidence of past dent work, especially on the outer part of the bow. Definitely a “player’s horn”, but the body and key work is in good shape overall without any obvious re-solder work. Lower stack trill key is absent from the horn.
