We are passionate about providing the best. VINTAGE – Bach Stradivarius Model 36 Trombone. 525 Bore – Small Shank Receiver – 8 Yellow Brass Bell. Early 70’s Medium bore slide (0.525) with large bore bell. For the first trombone work in large symphony or concert orchestras. Remarkable high register so essential for modern symphony work. Beautiful, broad and sonorous tone, full of life. Abundant tone-volume and carrying power. No risk of over blowing this instrument as there is no player with sufficient power to reach the limit of its fortissimo. This trombone is in good condition, the bell has a lot of scars from past damage. The slide is an 7.5/8 out of 10. The horn has most of the lacquer taken off from years of use. This is a great trombone for anyone looking for a medium bore horn. Bach started producing trombones in the 1932s in New York with their Model 16. The earliest horns wear the New York stamp on the bell. It was here that the early development proved Bach was a serious and talented craftsman. As the popularity for his product grew, he expanded production to Mt. It was here that many believe the most magical instruments finally came to life. In fact the quality of his later Mt. In an effort to carry on his legacy, he agreed to sell to Selmer, and made it a priority for him to re-locate not only the factory, but himself to Elkhart, IN in 1965 to oversee production, and ensure the instruments bearing his name, would maintain the quality he worked so hard to establish. In fact many people might argue that these earliest Elkhart Bach trumpets, may be even slightly better than some of the later Mt. Vernon trumpets simply because of the close attention Vincent Bach put into Quality Control. 525 Bore – 8 Yellow Brass Bell – Small Shank receiver. A Special letter from our President and Founder: Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our auctions! On September 11th, 2001 the United States was attacked, and the world changed seemingly overnight. At the time, I was a young craftsman who had just a year earlier graduated from the most reputable musical instrument repair program in the world, Minnesota State College, in Red Wing, MN. I had taken a position as an Apprentice with a premiere Custom Trombone manufacture in the Boston, MA area. While I was fortunate enough to keep my job after a series of layoffs that came after the attacks, my hours were drastically cut back to 15 hours a week. Driven by the necessity to put food on the table I engaged the passion I had for vintage musical instruments, and the skills I had learned into my own business. 28, 2001 is a snapshot in time, when my life changed, and I started to realize an amazing opportunity in life that has become something truly remarkable. Thank you for your trust. Thank you for allowing us to do what we love! We are blessed to have grown into the company we are today. We are all passionate about what we do. It is important for you to know that each and every customer we deal with is very important to us. Please understand that we are here to help and offer our expertise to make your experience the best we possibly can. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask us! If you know anyone interested in purchasing musical equipment, or are in need of repair service, we hope you might consider helping to spread the word about what we do. Thank you so much! Keeping all of the original packagings for inspection, etc. We pride ourselves on the ability to accurately respond to these questions promptly. Saxophone Tenor SELMER Mark VI, Good Condition! Fast & Safe Shipping
SELMER MARK VI Made in FRANCE. Crazy and Extraordinary, I don’t have that many epithets to describe my feelings about this tenor! Included: – mouthpiece Selmer Soloist C , ligature, cap – great Case. For two saxophones tenor and soprano. (soprano straight yamaha-yanagisawa-selmer VI style). Description from Tenormadness where it was acquired a couple of years ago. The 120, xxx through 140, xxx Mark VI tenors really have their own thing going on compared to other serial ranges. They are BIG sounding, with an ability to play aggressively or sweetly depending on what you want to do. This one has original lacquer that is 85% present. The neck has the matching serial number and has never been pulled down. It’s one of the best jobs we’ve seen. It was overhauled not too long ago and has seen very little playing time. The pads have a LOT of life left in them and the mechanical condition is great. Having just been PC’d through the shop, I can honestly say that if you want a SOLID playing Mark VI that is a really great player then you can’t go wrong with this sax. As many of you know, Dave Liebman does not take a tenor saxophone on tour (soprano sax only and tenor sax mouthpiece), a couple of years ago, having arrived in Kiev (Ukraine), and he asked for an instrument for a concert. I brought him two horns this one and Selmer SBA 1949 unlaquered, Dave tried both and chose this Mark VI for the gig, the photo is attached to Dave and this tenor. It is 100% working & playing well without any issues! Excellent saxophone with Excellent sound! Instrument will be neatly packed. Sax in Good condition! Please see my other products and. Check out my other items. Be sure to add me to your favorites list. For those of you who may not be familiar, Frank is a true heavy hitter in the jazz world and has been featured on multiple Grammy winning albums. He is also the quintessential gear hound, having amassed a collection of over 500 mouthpieces! He now endorses and plays Jody Jazz mouthpieces exclusively so he is purging some of his massive collection of mouthpieces he has acquired over many years, as well as other random gear. Be sure to check out my other items for more great items from this collection. There will be more to come later, so add me to your favorites list and check back later to see new additions. The serial number is 274, xxx, indicating a c. It is stamped “L” for low pitch, the desired tuning for modern use. The 30M was Conn’s top of the line tenor sax. It is a step above even the 10M professional model. Some liken it to a 10M on steroids! In fact, it is built on the basic platform of the 10M design, but with lots of upgrades. It has solid silver key touches, and a redesigned octave key that is hinged on the bottom of the neck. The oversized pinky table keys have also been re-designed for lighter action. There are adjusting screws everywhere, which makes repairs easier and more accurate. It also has standard Conn features, such as locking pivot screws, and of course rolled tone holes. This horn is in very good playing condition. It had a playing condition job done relatively recently by a well known Chicago area tech. I just did a leak light inspection, and all pads are sealing properly with a light touch. Of course you may want to have it adjusted to your tastes by your own tech, but it is definitely fully playable right out of the box. This horn is in very good physical condition as well. The body is straight, and the neck has not been pulled down. There is one minor ding on the bell, and maybe a couple additional super tiny pings, but no significant dents or dings. No obvious signs of past trauma or re-soldering. The keys are all moving freely, and rollers are all turning. It doesn’t have excessive mechanical wear to the keywork. The pads are older (except for a few just replaced at the last servicing). I would say they are about mid-life. Now for the one negative… Unfortunately this horn has been relacquered, and it was buffed rather heavily in the process. The engraving isn’t completely buffed out, but it is faint. Luckily the tone holes seem to have been spared. My guess is that this was not the result of a single buffing incident, but rather the combined effects of multiple buffings over the decades. From the 1940’s through the 70’s it was all to common to buff and relacquer horns as part of a standard overhaul. From what I’ve heard, they wouldn’t even ask if you wanted it done, it was just a matter of course, and most players prefered a shiny’new’ looking horn. Obviously the tide has changed on that sentiment. I won’t get into the debate about whether or not this affects the sound of the instrument, because you probably already have your own opinion. This horn is a monster player! The tone is incredibly rich, and FAT! It has just a massive sound to it, very spread, and on the dark side. The intonation is quite good for a horn of this age. It speaks easily from low Bb all the way into the altissimo. Frank mentioned that he thought the neck from this one is particularly good and he’s played enough vintage Conn’s to know! It was owned by a longtime pro player who passed away in his 90’s some time ago. This player also had a 58′ Selmer Mark VI that I bought, but he apparently continued using this Conn as his main axe even after getting the VI. I’ve got a few of his business cards that were in the case, which I will throw in, just for kicks. Lastly, the case is in overall good condition. It is solid, but well worn. There are no structural issues, the handles are present, and the latches spring open as they should. I’m not sure if it is original to the horn or not, although it does look to be from the right era. Of course you’ll probably want something more modern for day to day use. There is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories included, except for the original end plug. Thanks again for looking! This is due to lack of available transportation ie. If this potential wait presents a problem for you, please refrain from purchasing at this time. I sincerely apologize for this, unfortunately unavoidable, inconvenience. The item “CONN 30M CONNQUEROR TENOR SAXOPHONE VINTAGE 1936 VG PLAYING CONDITION” is in sale since Sunday, June 20, 2021. Selmer Reference 54 tenor saxophone sax
Selmer Reference 54 tenor saxophone sax. A real player’s horn. My last gig with the horn was in Manhattan at Bowery Electric in March 2020. The pads are good. The “Vintage” or “Antique” finish has been market up or scratched on various places around the horn but it only adds to the cool patina. My previous horn was a quirky Mark VI.. The thing I prefer about the 54 is that it plays very neutral/flexible and let’s you shape the sound. 54 tenor has received a pro set-up within the past year from the great NYC repairman Bill Singer. Bill Singer also hammered out a dent in the bow about ten years ago. He did a great job and the horn sounds as good as it did before the dent. Comes in a decent pro-tec case. Zoom in to look at that patina! Serial number is N6209xx which pegs it to 2001/2002 manufactured. I just added some daylight pictures as the originals didnt quite capture the patina as I picture it as I see it. These new photos go too far in the other direction and are bright.
