Bach Stradivarius Bass Trombone

It features a 9.5 gold brass bell and lightweight nickel slide. In the early 80s it was sent to John Haynor in Chicago for modification. Back then, before the improved valves we have now, Olds had the largest diameter rotors on the market and those are what Haynor used. It is a custom open wrap with independent rotors and triggers. It has a detachable bell. It is a comfortable horn to hold and play. It is very open, but not too much like some modern rotors. It shows signs of wear and evidence of previous dent work. It was relacquered at some point. The slide is excellent. There is wear on the inner slides but not through the plating to the base metal. The action is very light and quick. Was just cleaned and serviced. This is a great all purpose horn for classical and commercial playing. Comes in the well worn original case. Selmer Bb piccolo trumpet – the same model used by French trumpeter Maurice Andre as well as many other top players – in very good mechanical order and good cosmetic condition. There has been some damage to this trumpet in the past. Somebody at some point has pushed something down the bell, which has created some ridges. There are some marks in the lacquer where these have been removed. There is also some frosting of the lacquer around the bottom of the bell near where it emerges from the first valve where a dent has been removed. Other than these two points it looks very good and certainly plays just like a top branded trumpet ought. All the slides and valves work just fine. There is only the Bb shank included, although this does pull far enough to allow for playing in A – there is a mark cut on the shank to show approximate location for this. It comes complete with the original Selmer case. I’m offering express domestic carriage free includinginsurance. Non UK buyers should be wary of GSP, as this can be very expensive. As with all of the of Conn’s, the F below the staff is flat, but improves as the horn warms up. Otherwise, the character of the horn rivals any BBb that I’ve ever played… Truly amazing response and feel. It appears to have been overhauled on some level at some point, and the lead pipe is not original. The plating on the valves looks to be 100% in tact. This is a fantastic deal on an instrument of this caliber and condition. Reasonable offers will be considered. Earl Williams Model 10 Bass Trombone

Ive decided its time to let this horn go to another deserving player. The horn originally belonged to Karl DeKarske. John Noxon had John Sandhagen over at The Boneyard work his magic on the horn. John found most of the bits needed like the male/female slide tenons, slide crook, hand slide braces. Mr DeKarske had a hacksaw and wasn’t afraid to use it… I fashioned the F lever, made a new brace tube receiver, got new Conn tubes, and put it all together. I gave John a Bach 50 short leadpipe… Similar to what was in Bob Olson’s Williams. This also took over an inch out of the horn… Probably was sharp and not much tuning slide available. I went with everything Williams that I could… I think the reason that people put the Conn levers on was the ergonomics… I tried to make it similar to a Williams, but adjustable and easier on the hand. The horn will also come with a set of different Kanstul leadpipes. They are: UL, L, H, and 169. I currently have the horn in a King case which suits it quite well and will be included if desired.
