This is a great-playing example of a vintage Martin Committee III tenor saxophone, #163XXX, made in 1947 in Elkhart, Indiana at the peak quality of American saxophone production. Matching serial number on the neck. His sax has plenty of wear and scratching in it’s vintage relaquer finish, and 3 ot 4 post resolders, no effect on it’s great sound. Replacement thumbrest as see in photos 10 and 11. It is set up to good playing adjustment on a recent set of plastic dome resonator pads. This sax has a full, warm sound. This is a great-playing example of a vintage Conn 6m transitional alto saxophone manufactured in 1932, #351XXX, at the absolute peak of American saxophone craftsmanship and quality. Rolled toneholes and naked lady engraving. His sax has a recent set of metal dome resonator pads and it is set up to good playing adjustment. Normal wear for a sax of it’s vintage with some scratches and a few small dents and wear mainly on the neck and some wear on the touch points as seen in the photos on it’s original silver-plated finish. Poor-looking but solid solder repair on low D# guard as seen in photos 8 and 9, no effect on the great sound quality of this sax. Very free-blowing with lots of edge and vintage character. This is a great example of a vintage King Zephyr alto saxophone #179XXX with it’s original vintage silver-plated finish. It is a very early example of the Zephyr, manufactured in 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio USA, the absolute peak period of quality. It has a complete set of recent replacement pads and t. His sax is set up to good playing adjustment. Speckling, scratches for it’s age; this rare original example was used but not abused; there are no significant dents. Resoldered neck tenon as seen in photos #3 and #5, solid with no effect on the sound. This sax has a warm vintage sound with beautiful presence. Comes without a case but this.
