Yes its the Real Deal 1948 Buescher Top Hat and Cane B11 model Tenor saxophone. The best american made beast of a horn. Needing a full repad and some work but a the right price. The Lacquer is Dark Worn but Original. The engraving is sharp and crisp. The “Buescher 400″ script on the bell is perfect. All the keys and rods and screws are free and moving. This horn will need a full and pad job overhaul but it. Is a very worthwhile candidate. All original pads(side D has a new pad) with there original snap-on pad retaining buttons. All the original gold plated norton springs. All the original Amber rollers. Its all here, it just needs Lovin’, A lot of lovin’. Its got dents here and there. The worst on the bottom bow has been removed. The neck is firm in the socket with no wobble. It has its share of dings but is all there. I bought this years ago with the intent of getting it playing but soon after purchasing i fell into an Aristocrat and this just sat in storage. Take a look at the pictures and ask any questions. As this is a rare and desireable horn with great parts it is an as is where is sale. Martin Trumpet Lge Bore Committee #3 Beautiful Horn On Sale Reduced Price
Today I have for sale an RMC Martin Committee Large #3 Bore in a silver finish. For those of you that already know the Martin Committee story, this will be old news, but for those of you that have never had the pleasure to play a vintage Martin Committee, particularly one of the far more rare large bore Committees, this will be new to you. In 1939, a “Committee” of some of the finest symphony trumpet players, along with Renold Schilke, Foster Reynolds, Elden Benge, and Vincent Bach – all of whom went on to design and manufacture their own lines of trumpets, met to collaborate on what was to be the ultimate trumpet. That same year, the Martin Band Instrument Company built this design and named it the “Martin Committee” after the name of the committee that designed this fine instrument. When the Martin Committee first entered the jazz scene in the early 1940’s, almost every professional trumpeter that you can name played the famous Martin Committee. The horn was made famous by Miles Davis, who played Martin Committees until they were no longer manufactured, and contracted with Martin to continue to build the Committee model just for him. And Miles was not alone. Chet Baker, Maynard Ferguson, Roy Eldridge, Lee Morgan, Dizzy Gillespie, Conti Candoli, and an international host of other trumpet professionals played the Martin Committee. It has been said that just about the only professional player who did NOT play the Martin Committee was Clifford Brown, who played a Blessing Super Artist. Throughout the golden age of jazz, through the 1940’s, 1950’s, and the 1960’s, the Martin Committee was considered THE HORN for trumpet playing professionals. Much later, trumpeter Chris Botti bought a vintage 1939 Martin Committee Handcraft (the horn he still plays to this very day by the way) and found that the Martin Committee had the lush, deep, smoky, honey dipped sound that one just could not duplicate in a modern horn, and has made the Martin Committee famous all over again. I have owned many vintage Martin Committees. My first horn was a beautiful 1946 Martin Committee medium bore. I then was lucky enough to find a 1948 Martin Committee Deluxe if the Large #3 bore, AND a 1960 Martin Committee Large #3 bore. Along the way, I was fortunate enough to acquire several different Martin Committee trumpets. The medium bore Committees are very nice playing horns, don’t get me wrong, but the very best playing horns are the LARGE BORE horns, and they are very hard to come by. What is an RMC Committee? The Martin Band Instrument Company changed hands over the years, and RMC, which some claim to represent as the “Roundtable of Musical Craftsmen” was actually the Richards Music Company, that had recently taken over the Martin Company. Some say that the RMC Martin Committees didn’t have the same sound as the original Martin Committees, but I just don’t believe that. Having owned at least 6 large bore Committees (1 Handcraft Committee, 3 regular large bore Committees, 1 Deluxe large bore Committee, and 1 RMC Committee), I can truthfully say that this horn, this RMC Committee plays superbly and has a sound like my other Committees, that unmistakable, smoky, dark, honey dipped sound that the Martin Committee is well known for. T hese are very fine playing instruments and they are no longer made! It took me years of searching to be able to find a large bore Committee in good shape. Don’t sleep on this great horn, or it will be gone! The item “MARTIN TRUMPET LGE BORE COMMITTEE #3 BEAUTIFUL HORN ON SALE REDUCED PRICE” is in sale since Monday, November 26, 2018. MAKE SOMEONE’S CHRISTMAS VERY SPECIAL!!! For sale today is a MONETTE MF PRANA TRUMPET in gorgeous silver plate. This is a very popular Monette trumpet, particularly for those who prefer a lighter weight instrument. This horn is the lightest Bb instrument that Monette makes. This trumpet was designed for, and played by Maynard Ferguson , and is an IDEAL instrument for LEAD AND EXTREME UPPER REGISTER playing. With a heavy mouthpiece setup, however, this instrument plays beautifully in a classical or small jazz group setting. I have recorded two studio albums with this very trumpet, and the clarity, the density, and the full body of its sound are second to none! How does it play? It plays amazingly well, in tune in every register, and can light up a room with it’s soaring tone, or play at the softest whisper you can imagine – all with that unmistakable Monette sound. And, it is remarkably easy to play! A very good friend and professional colleague of mine that teaches privately is a symphony player that owns a Bach Stradivarius. But when she teaches, she uses her husband’s Monette trumpet , and I asked her why she would prefer a Monette for teaching. Her answer made a great deal of sense when I look back at my personal experiences playing this trumpet. She said the Monette will do everything her Bach Stradivarius will do AND MORE – with 50% of the effort! These are, simply put, the FINEST trumpets ever made! They are hand made at the Monette shop in Portland, Oregon, with painstaking care and manual labor. Each completed instrument is play tested and adjusted by Dave Monette himself or a trusted member of his staff. Consider these facts – a good horn like a Bach Stradivarius Model 37 takes 4 – 5 hours to make, from beginning to end. These trumpets are MASS PRODUCED BY MACHINE and are very inconsistent in their quality, comparing one to another. Each Monette instrument, by way of contrast takes over 180 man hours to build, by hand, and is VERY CONSISTENT AND OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY IN THE INDUSTRY! There are good reasons why professionals like Wynton Marsalis, Charles Schlueter of the Minnesota Orchestra, Scotty Barnhart, Patrick Hession, the late Maynard Ferguson , and many many other professional artists play Monette equipment. I WILL NOT ENTERTAIN LOWBALL OFFERS FOR THIS FINE INSTRUMENT. As a trumpet player for over 50 years, I have owned many of the finest instruments made. But this Monette is THE FINEST I have ever owned and ever played, and it is well worth every penny you invest in it. MAKE SOMEONE’S CHRISTMAS VERY VERY SPECIAL! Don’t wait on this! It is time for me to thin the herd, My wife may be right that a retired Army bandsman probably doesn’t need three bass trombones. I still have a dual trigger and my dance band custom that I assembled so I should be ok. This came back from the shop last week with a full sonic cleaning, adjustments and lube to all tuning and hand slides. Lube and adjustments to the valves, restrung and working at 100%. It received a clean bill of health from my brass guy John. This King an excellent player player normal lightscratching and signs of wear, but in very nice overall shape. I did not find any obvious dents, inner slide stockings are pristine. Slide is a good 9 out of 10. A couple of small spots on the outer bell flare under the lacquer. Lacquer looks like 90% A very presentable Early Duo Gravis with a four digit serial number, 970x, which according to my repair tech makes it a very early Duo Gravis. I played one in a National guard band for a very wide range of playing styles from brass choir to Dance Band. This one is in good condition. It has an interesting in-line rotor configuration, where the F and Gb triggers are both operated by the left thumb. The hand hold shows a bit of wear complete with a discolored area. The Slide is very good and this horn is great to play. This Bass trombone is ideal for advanced students that are looking to acquire a gigging bass trombone, or the budding professional that needs a reliable bass trombone. I have a video on YouTube not very good but you can hear it! Go to YOUTUBE search for img 2460 duo gravis. It has a nice rigid Protec International case, (NOT A GIG BAG) very protective but only 16 pounds with the horn. The case is missing a shoulder strap. I never had it but did not miss it.
