White Model 2B Trumpet with original Case, Accessories and Vincent Bach Corp 3C Mouthpiece – Serial# 309364. This is a lightly used King 2B Liberty pro-model trumpet in excellent condition. It features a one-piece brass bell. This bell is only found on early 2B like this one and is a big plus. It provides better tone and response than the later two-piece bell. Many consider the later two-piece bell 2B an intermediate grade rather than professional model. This 1950 2B was overhauled in 2021 by Charlie Melk of Charlie’s Brass Works in Atlanta. He rebuilt (replated & fitted) the 2nd valve, lapped the others and aligned all three. He also converted the adjustable 3rd valve slide finger loop to a fixed loop, chem cleaned the instrument and removed every dent. The lacquer finish is original and still looks very good. There are small areas of lacquer wear but no pitting or red rot. The hard case is original and nice with working latches, a good handle and a clean, no-odors interior. The mouthpiece is a late’60’s (early Elkhart) Vincent Bach Corp 3C in good condition. Also included is a lyre, cleaning rod and paperwork, including the Charlie’s Brass Works receipt. This is a great looking, straight, clean, lubed and ready to play horn. You will not be disappointed purchasing this horn. The King Liberty 2B has a. 458 (ML) bore and blows freely with a dense, powerful tone that can go from sweet to dense to edgy at the whim of the performer. It’s fun to play and intonation is spot-on. White’s outstanding construction quality is well known to be as good as it gets. This is a versatile instrument with a lovely tone. In my opinion it’s playing characteristics make it the perfect big band horn. The story of the King 2B Liberty comes to life in the performances of the numerous great trumpeters like Ray Anthony, lead with the Glen Miller orchestra, Harry James and the incredible Ziggy Elman.
