Here is an absolutely beautiful Flumpet made by Dave Monette. This one was modeled after Art Farmer’s original signature Flumpet that set the standard for these very special instruments. We have NOT heard a Flumpet that sounds this amazing. It literally sounds like butter and the tone is so easy to slot up and down with any amount of attack you desire–the tone doesn’t change unless you want to sustain it harder or softer. One of those “unicorn” horns that you just can’t put down once you start playing it. The Flumpet is near flawless and looks almost brand new. The valve slides and buttons were re-plated recently and the Monette case is also very new. This particular flumpet was designed with Art Farmer’s actual horn specs and the tone is more rich, creamy, warm and thick than the average Flumpet. And this one leaves flugelhorns in the dust because of its ability to attack sharply without the brittle aspects of the flugelhorn or trumpet. Although this is a celebrity pre-owned Flumpet, you wouldn’t know it. The horn is flawless and performs just as if it left the factory today. It was meticulously maintained and is as clean as a new horn. The case is absolutely gorgeous (as many know) and the two 24k gold mouthpieces complement the horn beautifully, as all Prana mouthpieces do. The mouthpiece sizes are STC 3 FL-MFII and STC 3 FL-MFII D. You can order other sizes from Monette directly if you wish, but we think these two mouthpieces are all you’ll need for this particular Flumpet. NOTE that the opal finger buttons (pictured) are an OPTION that can be made separately and matched to the horn. This horn comes with 24k finger buttons from Monette. The last supplemental finger button photo shows rare stones and styles we can custom make. There is way too much to say about this incredible Flumpet. It has amazing power sharp attack and resonance… But can also produce the warmest and most creamy subtle tones for Miles Davis jazz.
